The best documentary I've seen on the topic.
This documentary is currently floating around YouTube and is well worth seeing--particularly if you love early animation. It stars a variety of guests who talk about the work, history and innovations of the Fleischer Brothers...the folks who brought us Ko-ko the Clown, Betty Boop, and Popeye. It's narrated by Carl Reiner and is very interesting...particularly the portions about their invention of the Rotoscope as well as their three dimensional cartoons. My only complaint, and it is a very minor one, is that the film makes a mistake by saying that Mae Questal was THE voice of Betty Boop, While she did the majority of the voicework for her as well as Olive Oyl, several others did their voices as well...with Margie Hines actually originally doing the voice. Still, it's not a huge mistake and the documentary features some great clips and wonderful insights that make it well worth your time.
