Give it a watch - you haven't seen anything like it
MathewIsaac32313 October 2023
I am a big fan of the filmmaking duo, Micaela Wittman and Arthur de Larroche. I loved their last movie, Clairevoyant, a comedy mockumentary, very different from Remy & Arletta. This movie is a coming of age drama about two teen girls and their budding relationship, alongside Remy's turbulent family life. Her mom is abusive and an alcoholic/drug addict. It's not an upbeat story, but it's very well acted and entertaining. It kind of feels like a memory of what it's like to be that age and have your best friend be your whole entire world. If you like independent films, or dramas, or relatable true to life stories, definitely give Remy & Arletta a watch. Micaela and Arthur have a big future ahead of them.

Remy & Arletta's Legacy of Courage
idellreynosa1 July 2024
Immersive and evocative, the soundtrack of 'Remy & Arletta' stands as a testament to the film's emotional depth and narrative power. From the opening notes to the final crescendo, every song is meticulously chosen to enhance the viewer's experience and deepen their connection to the story. The music, composed by Wilhelm, serves as an integral part of the film's storytelling, seamlessly weaving in and out of scenes to underscore the characters' emotions and propel the plot forward. Each track is a perfect complement to the on-screen action, whether it's a tender moment between Remy and Arletta or a heart-pounding climax that leaves viewers on the edge of their seats.

The Magical Realms Explored by Remy & Arletta
gayleprucha1 July 2024
Director De Larroche's decision to eschew Hollywood conventions pays off in spades, allowing the film to focus on what truly matters: the characters and their journey. Every frame feels intimate and personal, drawing viewers into the world of Remy and Arletta and immersing them in their struggles and triumphs. Sure, Remy & Arletta may not have the slick production values of its big-budget counterparts, but what it lacks in flash, it more than makes up for in heart. This is storytelling in its purest form-unfiltered, uncompromising, and undeniably powerful. In an industry often dominated by spectacle and excess, this film serves as a reminder of the power of simplicity. It proves that you don't need a big budget to tell a compelling story or to touch the hearts of audiences around the world.

Chronicles of Remy & Arletta: From Rags to Riches
rockyrouton1 July 2024
Even though the main duo is stealin' the show, the whole dang cast is killin' it! Every character feels like they belong in this world. The chemistry between the actors-it's off the charts! You can tell these folks actually like each other, which makes their on-screen relationships feel even more real. I mean, who needs fancy special effects when you've got actors who can make you believe they're livin' and breathin' these characters? So yeah, if you're lookin' for a movie with a killer cast that'll make you laugh, cry, and maybe even question life itself, 'Remy & Arletta' is where it's at. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

an indie to watch
ma_rcel13 October 2023
I thought this movie would be predictable but it actually was a raw and fresh slice-of-life story.

This film is very independent, but a well written script and wonderful lead performance by micaela wittman, followed by amy benedict and riley quinn scott carries the film and makes it feel special. The girls have so much chemistry. A relatable cast. Feels like something I haven't seen before, WARNING: some of the abuse scenes can be hard to watch. Reminds me of the movie Carrie when she gets locked in the closet. It gets very intense, but I admire how hard that must've been for the actors.

It's low budget and very indie like I mentioned, but I like that the focus was on the artistry not as much having a fancy camera or equipment. Highly recommend giving it a watch if you feel like crying or being reminded of your youth.

. While the film occasionally falls into familiar tropes of the coming-of-age genre, its genuine heart and captivating performances elevate it above cliché. 'Remy & Arletta' is a gem of independent cinema, offering a refreshingly authentic take on the temporary teenage years. Remy & Arletta: Partners in Crime Fighting
anettegrandberry1 July 2024
I appreciated the contrast between the characters' backgrounds-it added a layer of complexity to the story. A heartfelt ode to friendship. Queer coming-of-age drama with many moments of genuine poignancy. The performances are solid, and there's something undeniably real about the friendship in this movie. The chemistry between the leads feels genuine and somehow it avoids feeling contrived. This film will stick with you, as it is a touching journey through the messiness of growing up. It's a sweet tale with plenty of heart, and the teenage angst feels familiar and authentic. It's hard not to root for the characters.

Remy & Arletta's Quest for Truth
merielvanostberg1 July 2024
Indeed, there are moments in Remy & Arletta that are downright uncomfortable to watch, as the characters, mainly Remy, navigates a world that often feels hostile and unforgiving. But it's precisely this discomfort that makes the film so powerful-it refuses to sugarcoat the harsh realities of growing up in an abusive household. It instead opts for a brutally honest portrayal that demands attention and reflection. And yet, amidst the darkness, there are moments of genuine tenderness and hope. The bond between Remy and Arletta serves as a beacon of light in an otherwise bleak landscape, offering a glimmer of hope in the face of adversity.

'Remy & Arletta'
doreathagragert1 July 2024
In 'Remy & Arletta', the bond between the titular characters is beautifully portrayed, capturing the essence of teenage friendship with authenticity. The performances are heartfelt, drawing viewers into the emotional journey of adolescence. Remy and Arletta's dynamic, though touching, sometimes follows predictable paths. Yet, it's the raw emotion and sincerity that ultimately make this film stand out. 'Remy & Arletta' delicately navigates themes of friendship, growing up, and the tumultuous nature of coming-of-age, resonating with audiences on a deeply personal level. While it may not break entirely new ground, its genuine portrayal of human connection leaves a lasting impact, reminding us of the enduring power of friendship amidst life's uncertainties.

A Tale of Two Lives
kristinewdeleon1 July 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Remy shares a bed in a hotel with her abusive and drunken mother. Arletta lives in a mansion with her encouraging, supportive parents. Together, they make a perfect team. Arletta doesn't judge Remy for her lack of money or embarrassing home life, if anything, she admires her strength. Remy has a harder time coming to terms with the differences between her and Arletta, despite always being validated by Arletta. This is normal considering she's at a time in her life when self shame and judgment runs rampant. Remy just needs time to figure herself out and heal, even if she doesn't quite know the meaning of the word heal yet. Reminded me a lot of my childhood. Sad, poignant, truthful.

Poignant & Sincere Coming of Age
laurenmcmillan-0960230 June 2024
Remy & Arletta is a genuine and poignant portrayal of growing up, friendship, and the complicated nature of relationships. With incredible performances and a beautiful script, there's not a moment where I wasn't invested in this story. I saw this film's premiere in Los Angeles, and it has stuck with me ever since - from the writing to the cinematography, it's such an impressive feat of filmmaking - all on an indie budget. I am always in awe of Arthur and Micalea's work and am excited to only continue following their careers from here. Go watch Remy & Arletta if you haven't already, and congratulations to everyone involved!

Remy & Arletta's Adventures Across the Globe
bayleeeken1 July 2024
An inspiring indie!!! Can't believe what the director/writer managed to accomplish for an independent film. Deals with very complex emotions at a time in life that is scary for us all. While the plot may occasionally feel rushed, the film's emotional depth and sincerity shine through, making it a memorable viewing experience. Remy & Arletta delicately explores the search for acceptance in a way with tremendous depth. Shows the importance of friendship amidst personal struggles. So beautiful! Highly highly recommend. Can't wait to see what us the cast and crew do next.. I left the theater hoping i can too make a movie of my own one day.

Remy & Arletta: Champions of Justice
patiencewaite1 July 2024
Stepping away from the glossy veneer of big-budget Hollywood productions, 'Remy & Arletta' offers a refreshingly raw and unfiltered portrayal of teenage life. Shot on a shoestring budget, this indie gem embraces its limitations, transforming them into strengths and delivering a poignant and authentic cinematic experience.

From its intimate camerawork to its naturalistic performances, Remy & Arletta exudes a sense of authenticity rarely found in mainstream cinema. The two main characters are imbued with depth and humanity. There are no elaborate sets or CGI spectacles here-just genuine storytelling that cuts straight to the heart.

Director Arthur de Larroche''s deft hand is evident in every frame, seamlessly weaving together moments of heart-wrenching emotion with lighthearted humor and poignant introspection. The film's cinematography is equally captivating, capturing the beauty of small-town life while underscoring the characters' inner turmoil. At its core, 'Remy & Arletta' is a story about the transformative power of friendship. Through their shared experiences and unwavering support for one another, Remy and Arletta discover that true acceptance comes from within and that love knows no bounds. All I can say is, give it a shot.

Remy & Arletta transcends the typical Hollywood portrayal of instant best friends. Instead, it unfolds a nuanced tapestry of female friendship that blossoms organically. We see Remy, the introverted artist, drawn to Arletta's infectious energy and unwavering confidence. Arletta, in turn, finds solace in Remy's empathy and artistic spirit. One of the most honest films I've seen Warning: Spoilers
Remy and Arletta is such a beautiful story. I think real human stories told my real human story tellers is such a blessing in this industry right now. I swear independent filmmakers should make every movie.

Watching the evolution of this friendship and the way life intertwines is something we can all resonate with. However the unique experiences of these characters also offers a story that I have never seen yet on screen and be it hard to stomach sometimes is something we all need to see. Watch this film and then do yourself a favor and watch it again. This is such a huge triumph of a film!!!

The Enigmatic World of Remy & Arletta Unveiled
chubreyer1 July 2024
Overall, a poignant exploration of love and self-discovery. While the performances in Remy & Arletta are commendable, the storyline lacks depth in certain areas. The themes of friendship and identity are touching, yet the pacing feels uneven at times. Worth a watch for its emotional resonance. It also offers a refreshing take on the complexities of teenage relationships. The juxtaposition of their contrasting backgrounds adds depth to the storyline. However, the resolution feels somewhat predictable...The characters are relatable, but the narrative could have delved deeper into Remy's internal conflicts. Still, a touching coming-of-age tale with moments of raw emotion.

Remy & Arletta's Guide to Modern Romance
laurenerstad1 July 2024
This is SO MUCH more relatable than i want to admit! The emotions in this film feel raw and real, some subplots feel unresolved, like what happens with the mom, but there's something undeniable about it. The friendship between Remy and Arletta feels undeniably authentic, their chemistry on-screen palpable. Set against the tumultuous landscape of adolescence, it does well at capturing the essence of growing pains and the importance of friendship in navigating life's challenges. It's messy and imperfect, but so is growing up. I hope this cast works together again, i think they all did a great job.

The Art of Culinary Excellence with Remy & Arletta
madgecatalfamo1 July 2024
Remy, played with raw vulnerability by Micaela Wittman, is a Jehovah's Witness grappling with the weight of familial expectations and the desire for personal freedom.

Her portrayal is hauntingly authentic, capturing the internal conflict and external pressures she faces with poignant sincerity.

Opposite her is Arletta, portrayed with equal parts charm and depth by Riley Quinn Scott,, a young woman from a privileged background masking her own insecurities beneath a facade of confidence. The dynamic between the two leads is electric, their chemistry so real as they navigate the complexities of their evolving relationship.

What sets 'Remy & Arletta' apart is its unflinching exploration of the dark undercurrents beneath the surface of teenage life. From Remy's tumultuous home life to Arletta's hidden struggles with her sexuality, the film doesn't shy away from the messy realities of growing up.
