In 2018, Kerala, a state in southern India, received rainfall unseen in the last hundred years. The rains killed more than 400 people and destroyed billion dollars worth of property. But this was no freak show. In 2019 again, torrential rains lashed the state, causing numerous landslides and deaths. Is Kerala, popularly called God's Own Country, now a cursed land? The Deluge is a dramatic tale of a bunch of survivors and rescuers against the backdrop of how one one India's most beautiful regions is now facing regular natural disasters as a result of ignoring environmental concerns. It showcases how local resilience can battle global warming. The film has been made with the assistance of personal footage filmed by victims and survivors.
