Ugh!
jmariani-5979917 July 2021
That says it all for me. Not that what they're trying to do isn't useful, but the designs are mostly kind of, well, awful. A dancing dining room eyesore, and if they think a string of lights on the front porch gives a frathouse vibe, what does a straw hat installation in a main room say about the age of the owners? That they're 12? Sorry, moving on.

Too fast to be nice

I appreciate the intent and even some of the ideas are good, but the paint jobs just look sloppy. Also looks like it only took 5 days, I was hoping it would be a little more like unsellable houses but more like trading places with crazy designers using colors no one really wants.

Terrible.
theslabaughs1 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
First off the idea of this show is good. I'm happy for this woman who came from "nothing" and has built up a buisiness. That is commendable. However the title that Taylor and team are the top selling is ridiculous. The only thing I can think of is of she is the only one in this buisiness. For any agent to think this slap job is acceptable, I would never trust to buy or sell me a home. As for her "designs" it's basically painting, adding sticker flooring and some staging with thrifted furniture. Taylor may have some design talent and with some honing in on her craft and focusing on details she may have a legit longstanding buisiness. The details are where it gets ugly. Watching her "team" (basically college kids) paint around hardware, without removing doors, cleaning, OR taping is hard to watch. Having them put down floor stickers on a dirty floor is well terrible. She also caulked some areas that could potentially be a major problem for the homeowners down the road. The house in the first episode had some major deffered maintainance and by covering these problems up without actually fixing the issue just passes on the problems. I really cannot understand any decent reviews for this show, unless they are paid or by family and friends of anyone on thus train wreck of a show.

Don't Bother!

Omg! Seriously ? I tried watching this show but after 2 mediocre episodes I just had to stop. If I had to pay them to design my house to sell and I walk in and the paint job looks like preschoolers did it I would be pissed!! It's awful, time to watch another DIY show!

No, not! Can't be actual 'top designer'.
jeffdstockton28 August 2021
Could have been good idea, but TERRIBLE execution. Wrong person! No real 'design' going on, here. Paint, wall paper, paint, used furniture, paint, and paint. She/ they brag about doing things cheaply; the problem is, it shows - glaringly! Bizarre choices for color and everything else she vomits into rooms (furniture, etc). It's impossible to believe that any client would be satisfied with the trainwreck this woman and her team delivers.

We thought it might have potential, but this show, this person and her 'design' skills (NOT), add up to a huge failure for HGTV. It takes some doing to be worse than the (thankfully) cancelled Fords' show and the needs-to-be cancelled 'Bargain Mansions', but this one has done it.

Just Nah
ashleecvt14 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
All they do is paint. Paint. Paint. Paint. Everything else is just put some furniture in here from the thrift store, yardsale, family junk. For $10,000 budget I could have done that. The worst was the Tudor home that they literally smeared black paint lines on like a 5 year old in the dining room. It was just "dancing". I honestly don't know that I've seen her even change light fixtures, faucets, etc...nothing that's actually adding any value to the homes. They spent like 3 days painting and fixing a shelf. A shelf that is leaving the home when it's sold. Don't get it.

Loved this show,different and relevant and a nice change from what's on now, we needed a change from property brothers and love it or list it,thank you, thank you, we need some new programs, it's pass time to pass the torch to some new design shows Friday, Saturday and Sunday are great days to throw in some new shows but don't forget about during the week. I am so desperate for something new!

(I wanted to name other shows that we need a break from but it would have taken from my excitement for the new, but thank you again.)

Man, this show is terrible. What happened to this network?
jdmartin-0816721 August 2021
I have never left a tv show review before but this one warrants a review. It is terrible, plain and simple. The claim is the host is one of the top NYC designers. Yesterday, I watched her:

  • Painting walls chocolate brown in a room with brand new carpeting, no drop cloths, and edging in with a 50 cent chip brush;

  • Paint a beautiful 1914 brick fireplace white, and not even paint it full or correct such that there were missed spots everywhere;

  • Use a non-hardening cheap wood putty to "fix" big chips in a plywood cabinet;

  • Not know that a screwdriver bit has to be chucked into the drill before it won't fall out;

  • Paint an old sheet vinyl floor with regular paint, to where the first time anyone walked on it paint was coming up.

And that's just what I can remember. Holy crap, this channel is half a step from airing Love Island and similar crap. I know hacks around my area that could do a better show. Perhaps they are trying to steer everyone to the paid service, but this drivel needs to come off the air.

Pretty awful.
creatrix14 April 2022
I've tried to find an episode that featured some actual appealing design, but no luck. Combining an electric royal blue wall with a teal couch made my eyes bleed. Possibly the worst feature was a sunburst painted in garish yellow on a ceiling, and one of the rays didn't even end at the middle. Or maybe it was the fake kitchen island that was just a hollow box with no storage. (And why does her crew seem to be afraid of her?) This is a terrific premise for a series, but just awful execution.

Such a fresh new concept for a show...loved Taylor and her teams bold choices for reimagining outdated spaces! The banter between the team made the watching experience even better- can't wait for the next season!!

A breath of fresh air for Millennial buyers
My husband and I are currently house hunting and completely turned off by all the dark, cramped, & outdated houses on the market. This show helps us understand the potential many of these old houses have when you're not willing to do an expensive and time consuming renovation and turn-key, move-in ready houses are in short supply. More shows like these, please!

This show hooked me from the beginning, with the fresh and elegant designs and amazing talent from Taylor Spellman. If you haven't seen One Week to Sell you are missing out. I have recommended this show to all my family and friends as it is a can't miss!

Great inspo without demo!
verabeltran-601-58698310 April 2022
I'm not selling a house but I love this show because it shows how much you can change/improve without having to tear wall down or changing everything in the kitchen. OWTS is a great inspiration for those wanting to sell but also to those wanting to renovate their homes on a budget.

love its heart

4 days to a week to update a home.. I don't know many of us who walk into a home and think " wow, there nothing left to do" For a long term Reno it just wouldn't do. What Taylor and her crew do is lay the groundwork for others to see the potential. I really respect that!

And I have gotten a few ideas at what others are looking for when they buy a house that won't cost me an arm and a leg. Looking forward to seeing more.
