In the quiet rural municipality of Lesja, life is never the same after 1987. 13-year-old Ingrid Marie Skotte mysteriously disappears, on her way to her boyfriend. The police fear she has hitchhiked along the European road, and they engage the whole of Norway in the search for Ingrid Marie and the abduction car, which may now be far away. The Lesja murder will be one of Norway's biggest disappearance cases of all time.

When two older siblings were found brutally stabbed to death in their Swiss villa in 1991, the city of Tistedal, close to Halden, was in shock. On Christmas Eve the following year, the Quick store's manager Karl Johan Hagevik was found shot with a shotgun in his car outside the store.
