- Sometimes war leaves a battlefield in your mind.
- After being dishonorably discharged from the Army and serving 10 years in prison, David Walker feels out of touch and unwanted as he tries to find his place in society. His routine consists of whatever odd jobs and shelter he can find, and weekly community service at a food bank. David looks forward to his shifts at the food bank, where he has made some friends, including a 10 year-old latch-key kid named DJ. DJ mentions that he typically hangs out at a local diner, where his mother works as a waitress. One day, David visits the diner unannounced, and everyones world is turned upside-down when he discovers that the waitress is his ex-wife, Lucy, and that DJ is the son he never knew he had.
