- LaRoche's unwelcome presence at a crime scene puts pressure on the team as they investigate the murder of a transplant doctor at a golf club.
- When Dr. Micah Newton is found murdered in a golf club with one hit on the head by a club, Lisbon and Patrick investigate the crime scene. Lisbon is interrupted by LaRoche and she makes a comment to him before learning that he is replacing Hightower. He immediately replaces Lisbon with Cho who reluctantly accepts the new position. Meanwhile, Lisbon and Patrick interview Newton's assistant Francine Trent and learn that he was in charge of a transplant program. His position was immediately filled by Dr. Evan Quick, who changes the policies in the hospital aiming for higher profit. Among the patients, there is the Russian mobster "Siberia" who was fast tracked while others stay on the transplant list. - The team check out victim Micah Newton, who was killed with a club at a driving range. His bag has hand sanitizer and snacks. He was golfing early a.m. Jane says the victim is probably a doctor. LaRoche sneaks up on them. He's looking for Hightower. Cho reports the victim was a doctor. He had a radiation badge to measure his exposure. LaRoche thinks Lisbon is disinterested in his investigation. She tells him she's going to ask to be kept as far away from him as possible after Hightower's replacement is named. LaRoche announces he was named Hightower's replacement. Then he promotes Cho and demotes Lisbon. Back at the office, Cho tells Lisbon she should still lead and he'll report to Laroche. She doesn't go for it, and says Cho should show what he's got. He informs the team. Lisbon reports that Newton was an administrator. There were no prints on the golf club. Rigsby says there are questions about his radiation exposure -- according to his badge, he was over his limit. Cho sends Lisbon and Jane to the hospital to investigate.
At the hospital, Jane announces that based on the single blow that killed him, a doctor did it. They meet with Francine Trent, Newton's assistant. His appointment shows a lecture for the med students at 8 p.m. the last night. Jane looks at a wedding photo of Newton and his husband. Newton started the transplant program at the hospital. Francine says Newton was a good leader. Now Dr. Quick is in charge. They're in the middle of the transplant meeting now.
Cho and Rigsby visit a banquet center to visit Micah's husband. He's organizing his biggest event of the year. He last saw Micah early yesterday. Micah called saying he was going to relieve stress at the driving range. He says someone at work was always mad at Micah for something. He hands over a letter from a transplant candidate, who threatened him if his wife didn't get a transplant.
Jane and Lisbon crash the transplant meeting. Quick is reorganizing the transplant schedule. Jane interrupts. Lisbon says she can't stop him, but Quick is welcome to call her boss, agent Cho. Jane says it's clear the patient Quick is advocating for has money. Quick ends the meeting. Quick's surgery fellow Dr. Watson says Quick was at a dinner last night. Jane asks about Siberia, the kidney transplant candidate. Jane watches a woman page someone and makes up a story for Lisbon. She no longer cares where he might be going.
Van Pelt meets with Byron, the man who wrote the threatening letter to Newton. He says his wife Enid had to jump through hoops to get on the transplant list, but she kept getting moved. He says he was with his wife when Newton was killed, she was spitting up blood.
Jane picks up a hospital phone and has Watson paged. Jane sneaks into the unit where Siberia is. Jane is immediately thrown against a wall by a body guard with a gun. "You must be some sort of Russian crime lord, yes?" Jane says. There's a giant Rubens painting in the corner. Jane tells "Siberia" about Newton's murder. Quick and Lisbon come in. Jane tells her about the gun. She takes the gun and goon. As they're leaving, Jane asks Quick what the going rate on a kidney is.
Back at CBI, Lisbon says goon Galenka has a record. She's ready to go talk to him. She doesn't know why Newton's radiation badge was so high. Cho tells Van Pelt to figure it out, irking Lisbon.
Lisbon talks to Galeka. He says he was with "Siberia" when Newton was killed.
Francine shows Jane to the nurse's station. He wants to talk to the head nurse, but they're interrupted by Byron coming for someone to help his wife Enid after her declotting procedure. Dr. Giddry, her anesthesiologist, says she's already maxed out on meds. Jane suggests Enid try screaming.
At CBI, Van Pelt says after hours access requires badges. His badge was swiped at 9:05 p.m., when he was supposedly talking to med students.
Back at the hospital, Jane is charming the nurses. The head nurses says Newton was sweet and they like Watson. They think he's cute and nice. One nurse says he bought donuts for everyone last night. She says he wasn't working last night, but he stopped by.
Later, Rigsby and Jane follow Watson into a dark alley. He gets a bag out of his trunk and goes into a sketchy building.
Rigsby goes inside. He hears moaning. Watson is holding a woman down and he's wearing gloves. He tells Rigsby it's OK, then shoots the woman full of something, saying he's reversing an overdose. He says one of her smack buddies called him. He says his mother was an addict, which is part of why he became a doctor. He says he was moonlighting at a mobile clinic last night, which is a violation of his hospital contract. He says Newton came to the clinic, too.
At the hospital, Lisbon races down the halls and Van Pelt times her. It took 7 minutes. There were five minutes between when Newton started his lecture and his badge was swiped in radiology. At CBI, Lisbon reports that over the last month, Newton's badge was used three times in radiology, but the people there didn't see him. They find a photo from his lecture -- he's not wearing his badge.
They think his assistant Francine might have been using it. She just bought a bus ticket.
They find her at the station. She has a suitcase. She tells them it has nuclear pellets in it -- in a lead-lined case. She says she didn't kill Newton and was with her boyfriend when he was killed. Cho calls for a Hazmat team.
At the hospital, Jane watches a man screaming in pain. A nurse says the patient is pumped full of drug, it doesn't make sense that he's in pain.
Jane visit "Siberia", who's knocked out before surgery. He takes out a Sharpie and writes on him. Jane serves Watson, Gibbry, Quick and two nurses coffee and tea. Then he leaves.
At CBI, LaRoche tells Francine has been selling nuclear materials for a few months but she has a solid alibi. LaRoche says it was a good catch. She gives credit to Cho. He puts her back in charge. She asks why she was pulled off in the first place. "Maybe I was messing with you, and I showed you I won't tolerate any disrespect," LaRoche says.
Jane gets an urgent page to an OR. They find "Siberia" has writing on his chest saying they have to call Patrick Jane STAT. He arrives and informs Quick and the team that they've all been drugged. He says it was in his special coffee blend. He says he used the drug he found in Watson's duffel. Then he announces that someone in the room has been stealing pain relievers from patients before, during or after surgery. He cites the screaming patients. He thinks Newton figured that out, too. The cute young engaged nurse realizes the drug is harmful to pregnant women. She looks at Watson. Lisbon arrives. Jane says someone is about to go into detox. They notice Giddry is gone.
Lisbon finds her in the bathroom about to shoot up. Lisbon tells her there was nothing in the coffee.
Back CBI, Giddry is really going through withdrawal. She admits she stole drugs, but says she didn't kill Newton. She started in med school to stay up for days. Cho promises to get her what she needs. She says Newton found something last week in her records. He fired her and was going to report her to the state medical board and cooperate with the authorities. She followed him to the driving range and whacked him in the head.
Cho reports to Lisbon. Galenka is being deported. Quick got fired for trading an MRI machine for a kidney. Lisbon tells Cho he did a great job. He knows. Rigsby and Van Pelt come in and invite Lisbon out. She has paperwork.
Boyd finds Jane and tells her they're operating on his wife. He thinks Jane helped. Boyd gives Jane his St. Sebastian medal, which he says helps people in pain. Jane gives it back, saying he's not a believer. Then he changes his mind and takes it.
