- One castaway's kind gesture causes others to take notice and question his loyalty to the tribe, while Francesca settles into solitary life on Redemption Island and speculates who will join her next.
- Previously on...: Phillip turned on his alliance and exposed Kristina's immunity idol, and Francesca was voted out to Redemption Island.
Redemption Island: Francesca lands out in the darkness of Redemption Island all alone (with the exception of the camera operator and the person she's talking to in her testimonials).
Ometepe: Rob says Tribal Council was one of the wildest he'd ever seen. Kristina is reeling from having lost the battle, but vows "it's not the end of my game." She's glad she didn't play the idol. Phillip pulls Rob aside and tells Rob he owns his vote until Phillip goes to Redemption Island. Rob wonders whether Phillip is all there.
"Let this be a lesson: Government jobs -- stressful!" Rob says before going to firm up his alliance.
After watching Phillip hunt in the jungle while wearing his pink briefs, he gives us a speech about how his patriotism and honor were called into question by Kristina and that he had to defend himself.
Zapatera: Russell doesn't like the "fools" in his tribe, especially Ralph, who he calls the dumbest person to ever play "Survivor." He starts plotting his girl alliance. He goes and talks to Krista and Stephanie, then sets off to find the hidden immunity idol despite not having a clue.
Meanwhile, Ralph is just out picking up rocks when he reaches into a tree stump and -- "hot doggie!" -- finds the hidden idol.
Ometepe: Matt is glad that God put him in an alliance with Rob. Rob is a little worried about the dynamic between Matt and Andrea, because a couple can get far. Rob goes to Natalie and tells her they either need to get rid of Phillip or Andrea next. She says she trusts Rob and that "making big moves along with him will be smart."
Immunity and reward challenge: The teams have to swim to a platform to get five keys that could open three locks to a trunk that holds a ball inside. The first team to use that ball to break five tiles wins immunity and a reward of fishing gear.
Ometepe jumps out to an early lead in picking up the keys, but Zapatera makes up time in opening their truck and eventually wins as Ralph tosses the ball successfully. Phillip was tossing for Ometepe and while he tried to catch up, came just short. After the challenge, Rob is annoyed that Matt shook hands with the players on the other tribe.
Zapatera: Russell is carrying the basket of fishing gear, knowing there'd be a clue in the basket. He sees the clue and tucks it into his shorts before anyone notices -- or he thinks no one noticed. Ralph notices and then tells the rest of the group (except for Russell and his girls). Meanwhile, Russell is out in the jungle sharing his clue with his girls.
Mike comes up to Russell and the girls, followed by Ralph. He asks Russell directly if there was a clue in the basket and Russell first plays coy, saying, "Maybe there was." When Ralph presses further, Russell denies there was a clue. Then he tells Ralph to calm down and says, "You're either with me or against me."
Ralph lets Russell continue with his story, but Russell then tells Ralph, "I don't like the way you're coming at me." Russell tells Ralph this is how the game is played, but Ralph just walks away telling Russell, "I'm just trying to be honest with you, but if you can't be honest back..."
Russell tells us he can't believe Ralph went off that way, saying, "You know how to play this game? Really? You just done that, to me? To Russell Hantz? And you know how to play this game?"
Redemption Island: Francesca gets a journal as her luxury item. She says she hopes she doesn't have to co-exist long with whomever comes next -- "especially if that person is Phillip."
Ometepe: Phillip asks to make a speech and tells them they should be proud of their effort and he only wishes he could have performed as well as they all did. He says he won't be running around asking for votes. He opens it up to the group and no one says anything. Rob finally tells him he did good and they lost as a team.
Rob then tells us he's still annoyed with Matt trying to play the "Christian" and "social" game on Day 5.
Kristina puts the idol around her neck and tells us she's definitely playing the idol because the numbers are still against her.
Rob then puts together the plan to give Matt four votes and see where things land. He goes to the rest of his alliance and gives them a story about splitting the votes between Kristina and Phillip.
Phillip asks Rob who he should vote for, and Matt catches this. He tells Rob that Phillip has no play.
Rob takes Phillip for a walk and tells him not to go on a tirade like he did last time. He tells Phillip that he'll put his hand on the shoulder of the person he wants him to vote for. Rob tells us this will be a good test to determine whether Phillip is trustworthy.
Tribal Council: Kristina says she has "just a little" feeling as to whether she's going to play the idol. Phillip goes on a speech about gorillas and lions. Phillip then says he'll have an opportunity to meet his "nemesis" if he goes to Redemption Island.
Rob puts his hand on Kristina's shoulder and Philllip gets the signal.
The vote: Matt writes down Phillip's name, Phillip writes down Kristina's name, and Kristina returns the favor. We don't see Rob's vote, but he says, "I hope you don't hold it against me, bud. But we'll see you on the flip side."
Jeff doesn't even get through the hidden idol speech before Kristina stands up and plays hers.
Jeff reads the votes: Kristina, Kristina, Phillip, Phillip, Matt, Matt, Matt, Matt. He's stunned, saying, "Good work, guys. My goodness!"
Matt's last words (for now): "It's been, like, an emotional roller coaster. Sometimes I feel like I just want to go home. And at other times, I'm thinking Rob just set me up to have the greatest comeback in 'Survivor' history. I just have to stay strong and the Lord will be with me."
