Great end to the series.

When another homeless person is found dead in a doorway, Geordie and Will begin to realise that the wrong man may be behind bars.

This was an excellent episode, it was the perfect way to round off the series.

I loved how it linked bits from the whole series together, as a mystery, I think it's the first time they've done that, it really worked well. Really good the whole way through, elevated by the shocking moment at the end.

I loved how each point was addressed, and resolved, Sylvia, The Cafe, Geordie's marriage, and of course Will's libido.

Definitely a few question marks still around some of the choices, I really can't see a Vicar saluting a gay couple in the 1950's, especially in a village, I know why they've done it, and it's well intentioned, I'm just not sure it's a realistic view point. In a way it's doing a disservice to those who would have been mistreated for being gay.

It had an end of show feel, I truly hope there's more to come, if it carries on along these lines, there are more great chapters to come.

9/10.

Quite Dramatic

I wondered all along about some loose ends. Everything seemed too pat, so when Geordie had doubts, things were redirected. Meanwhile, Will is being a big wimp when it comes to Bonnie. Why can't he just say what he means. He overuses the expression, "I don't know." There are lots of reconciliations in this one and some questions answered. Mrs. C comes to the fore. There is an unsettling message about God. God is great when things are going fine, dispose of him in hard times, take him back when things go well. For the first time in the series, Will faces dire consequences. As the camera pans back, we get the impression that this is the last show in this series. But....

Warning: Spoilers
We laughed, we cried, we were surprised, shocked & eventually relieved (spoiler alert!). Congratulations to all the cast & writers. Apart from episode 2, which lost its way a bit, this season was stellar. Thanks to all concerned 🙏😊

Raincoat

This was easily the best episode in this series, but that's not at all hard, as the previous ones really have been pretty poor, and not remotely up to past quality. They have been seriously trashing the title.

And so it's gorgeous sunny summertime in Cambridge and yet Geordie is still wearing that sad old raincoat, when everyone else is in summer gear. Then when he finally takes it off, just look, his jacket comes off too, and he is there in shirt sleeves and braces!

They do somehow manage to weave in just a tiny bit of a suspense, something very much missing in the previous episodes, although the identity of the culprit is maybe just a hint too obvious.

A generous 7/10.

Episode 6

A hark back to episode 3 of the series. Another dead tramp is found in Grantchester. Geordie must decide whether this is a copycat killing or he locked up the wrong man.

As the episode opened with Will talking to a man over some liaisons he has been ashamed off. Later Geordie encounters a university academic with strong views on the underclass.

Once she is attacked, then the identity of the real killer is obvious. The only issue is how much danger Will is going to be in?

The end of the seventh series was more interested in wrapping up various subplots. Such as Mrs Chapman's cancer story. The central mystery was dealt with rather quickly.

I do wonder what future Grantchester has without a womanising padre!
