- Quotes
Dr. Doofenshmirtz: So just because I miss a few payments, you're selling my building? And where am I supposed to get that much money on short notice?
Bank Worker: I'm sorry, Mr. Doof-Schmidt, those are the terms of your loan.
Dr. Doofenshmirtz: The name is Doofenshmirtz, like... like in "Doofenshmirtz."

"Run Candace Run" and "Last Train to Bustville" are equally great for equal reasons, although neither are among the best 'Phineas and Ferb' episodes in my view. There is very little wrong with either of them and Candace is written very well indeed in both, just that other episodes are a little more consistent quality wise. Due to one subplot in one of the episodes "Run Candace Run" not being as good or as inspired as the rest of the episode.
The animation is full of vibrant rich colour and the background detail is fluid and never rushed-looking. Where it is most striking is the comic character animation of Perry and especially Doofenschmirtz in both episodes, some of the latter's expressions are priceless. The music never felt at odds with the action and has a nice hip character, the theme song is so catchy and quotable still. Some theme songs/tunes in television can grate, others never get old. 'Phineas and Ferb' for me is in the latter category and the lyrics are funnier and easier to relate to than when first getting into the show when it first started to air. Loved the "Run Candace Run" song.
Writing is full of wit and intelligence in both episodes, equally so and not one being better in this regard than the other. The story aspect in both episodes is more than solid too and there isn't a dull moment either, without it being manic. The character writing and voice acting are very good. Interesting to hear Tina Fey.
Comparing the two, "Run Candace Run" had the more imaginative main plot, which was a lot of fun and clever, and manages to do so without being over-stuffed. Meanwhile "Last Train to Bustville" had the much more inspired and funnier Doofenschmirtz subplot (the weak link of "Run Candace Run") and was much more him. Doofenschmirtz is a riot in this subplot, especially when the plan has consequences. Candace is written very well in both episodes, but especially in "Last Train to Bustville", where her goal is different and again showing a different side to her.
Overall, great. 9/10.
