Back in February, filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan secured a multi-year deal with Warner Bros., and soon after that deal was made, we heard that his first movie for Warner Bros. would be Trap, a “psychological thriller set at a concert”. There were rumors that Trap had already made its way through production earlier this year and that Shyamalan was following it up with a mysterious project called Good Grades – but according to the folks at FilmUpdates, Trap just started filming this month, with Good Grades as its codename. They also revealed that the film stars Josh Hartnett, fresh off playing a role in Oppenheimer, and Shyamalan’s daughter Saleka.
According to the site, Saleka – who is an R&b singer/songwriter – plays “a popstar whose concert is at the heart of the story.” Hartnett’s character is “a father who takes his child to a concert, and unwittingly gets caught up in the surrounding events.

Last October, Universal announced that they would be releasing the next thriller from writer/director M. Night Shyamalan on April 5, 2024… but in February, Shyamalan secured a multi-year deal with Warner Bros. So the plan has changed. The filmmaker will now be making his next thriller, titled Trap, for Warner Bros., who have not yet announced a release date for the project. But during the Warner Bros. presentation at CineEurope in Barcelona, Shyamalan did reveal the setting of Trap.
According to Deadline, Shyamalan told CineEurope attendees that the film will be a “psychological thriller set at a concert“. He didn’t reveal anything else about the story.
He did say he’s excited to have joined the Warner Bros. family. His daughter Ishana is making her feature directorial debut with the gothic fairy tale The Watchers, and that film is set up at Warner Bros. as well. It has a June 7, 2024 theatrical release date.

Sony Pictures has made several changes and additions to its film release slate, including pushing back the release of the family film “Harold and the Purple Crayon” and Blumhouse’s “They Listen” to 2024.
“Harold and the Purple Crayon,” an adaptation of the famed children’s book starring Zachary Levi and Lil Rel Howery, has been moved from a slated June 30 release to August 2, 2024. “They Listen,” a horror film starring Katherine Waterston and John Cho, has been moved from August 2023 to August 30, 2024.
Currently, the August 2024 release slate remains relatively open even with Sony’s two new additions. “Harold and the Purple Crayon” will open alongside M. Night Shyamalan’s next film “Trap,” which will be released as part of his new first-look deal with Warner Bros.

Like father, like daughter: Ishana Night Shyamalan is joining her dad, M. Night Shyamalan, in the family business of making movies by directing "The Watchers," the forthcoming thriller set up at New Line. Now, before you start breaking out your best nepo baby wisecracks, it's worth noting that Ishana Night Shyamalan has already helmed multiple episodes of "Servant," the critically-acclaimed Apple TV+ horror/thriller series that was executive produced and co-directed by her pop. M. Night Shyamalan didn't merely hire Ishana for "Servant" hoping she would prove to have a knack for visual storytelling, either.
"Ishana is one of several filmmakers that I hired based off of their short films," he explained to Entertainment Weekly. He added that, at 30 minutes long, each episode of "Servant" is "basically a short film" in and of itself. Having already seen her short films at NYU's Tish School, the "Sixth Sense" and "Knock at the Cabin...
