A refreshing look at subtle humour intelligently written and portrayed. Of course there will be those who have been so brainwashed by the mediocrity of the latest trends, they wouldn't know actual humour if it smacked them on their ears. This is not for the lazy in the brain types with their noses stuck in the talking points of their overlords. This is for real people with actual thoughts.
It's not perfect. It needs room to grow. World-building, character development. Any show that has been so well-toned to be completely polished at the outset is doomed to obscurity. Ratings will likely not be what they should (or artificially deflated by those who know better than we do what we should think), and despite having checked all the boxes, will be equally despised by those with opposing views.
And anybody who compares an actor's previous works to the present one is nothing more than a petulant child's Monday morning failed wanna-be screenwriter fantasy of pseudo clever rhetoric designed to tear down someone else's creativity because they have none of their own. Those who can't do, whine until everyone's been brought down to their level.
I also noticed there's no laugh track. So it's not funny if you haven't been spoon-fed the moments you're supposed to think is funny? Half a century of surrogate laughter has left the audience numb to actual humour. With Hank, you have to pay attention. Too much work for some. And no complimentary rewards just for showing up.
