- A group of international board members from the Sekei Taikai World Karate Tournament have arrived at the Cobra Kai flagship dojo, at Terry Silver's invitation. Their spokesman, Gunther Braun, reminds Silver that despite his impressive application, they cannot yet guarantee Cobra Kai will meet the extensive requirements for entry. Silver shows them around his state-of-the-art facilities, and tells him that using his connections, he can secure sponsorship and broadcast companies to cover the tournament, bringing it into the American sightline for the first time. Gunther tells him that their review will be entirely about the quality of students Cobra Kai can provide, and Terry postures that his students and dojo are the best in the Valley. Daniel disagrees, entering the dojo alongside Johnny and Chozen. They introduce themselves as the senseis of their own versatile style, and ask for a chance for their students, including two All-Valley Champions, to prove their worth. Terry is angry at the interruption, but the board, having been told that Cobra Kai held all the titles in the area, decide to allow them to be reviewed as well. The Miyagi-Fang senseis thank them and leave Terry and Kim Da Eun fuming. In the office, Kim reminds Silver of their deal; she will train his students, and Silver will make sure Kim's family karate emerges from the shadows. Silver assures her that LaRusso and his cohorts are finished, they are just stalling, and she tells him to make sure he is ready to stop them the next time they try to interfere. Downstairs, Devon is excited about the prospects that winning the Sekei Taikai would provider her and Tory, but Tory is becoming more and more uneasy at having to lie to her senseis and fellow students.
At Miyagi-Do, the students are abuzz with excitement of their own, and their senseis remind them that this may be their last chance to stop The Way of the Fist from becoming a problem for kids all over the world. They warm up as Johnny checks in with Miguel, who is managing to maintain a platonic friendship with Sam. Over the next few days, the Sekei Taikai organizers attend demonstrations from both Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do/Eagle Fang. Daniel and Johnny, assisted by Chozen, show them how they have combined Miyagi-Do's defense and traditional style with Eagle Fang's raw, streetwise methods, during which Gunther and Johnny gain a rapport over their mutual love of Rocky. Cobra Kai on the other hand, demonstrates high-tech and rigorous training, but at the end of the day, both dojos have thoroughly impressed all of the judges, for completely different reasons. They reach an indecision over which dojo should be given entry into the Sekei Taikai, so they have a simple solution. Each dojo is to pick a male and female fighter, and they will be tested against eachother in separate matches to determine which style is better. Silver picks both Kenny and Tory to represent Cobra Kai, and later Tory goes to the prison to update Kreese. She is conflicted. Participating will only help Cobra Kai, but quitting would mean exposing herself. She asks Kreese to tell her what to do, but Kreese tells her to do whatever is best for her. He has given up on trying to be released, and tells her that winning the Sekei Taikai would give her many more opportunities. Tory is shocked and angry that all of her efforts in helping him, keeping secrets, lying to her fellows, and breaking up with her boyfriend, have been for nothing, and he tells her that she should look out for herself. She leaves feeling upset and betrayed by the only person she thought she could trust.
That night at the LaRusso home, the Miyagi-Fang students enjoy their evening before the all important matches. Johnny talks to Robby, Miguel, and Eli about which of them will be their male choice. The senseis cannot decide, but luckily, the boys have already mutually agreed that, as the current All-Valley Champ, Eli should get the honor. Meanwhile back at the dojo, Sam is training with Daniel and Chozen long into the evening. As they call it for the night, Sam seems distracted. Daniel assures her that she is the strongest she's ever been, and will have no problems against Tory tomorrow. Sam admits that it's not just the fight itself. After the All-Valley when Miyagi-Do was shut down, she started to think it was for the best. Now she is back in an ultra-important fight, and feels that she hasn't gotten anywhere, just another grudge match. Chozen reminds Sam about his fight with her father all those years ago. He tells her that he was fighting to prove he was the best, to defeat his enemy no matter what, but Daniel was fighting to help the people he loved. Chozen says that Daniel won because he was fighting for, rather than against. Sam decides to fight for her senseis and friends, and Daniel tells her to also fight for herself. As she leaves to join her dojo mates at the house, she accidentally finds the octopus necklace Miguel bought for her.
At Cobra Kai, Kenny is training ferociously by himself. Terry finds him, and Kenny tells him that he's worried he won't be able to compete against Miyagi-Fang's bigger, more experienced students. Silver encourages him, saying that when he first started out, his fellow soldiers called him "Twig". But he built himself up, and now Kenny can do the same. To help him along, Silver teaches him a secret technique that he modified from his master's old lessons; the Silver Bullet. By throwing a highly precise strike into the center of his enemy's ribs, he can cause "significant damage". Silver demonstrates, and punches a hole straight through the training dummy. Kenny asks why bother going for internal damage when he would score a point for hitting the chest anyway, and Terry tells him the the best way to ensure victory is to incapacitate his opponent immediately. Kenny asks Silver to teach it to him.
The next day, Daniel, Johnny, Chozen, and their pupils arrive at Cobra Kai, which has been designated by the Sekei Taikai organizers for the deciding matches. They have also brought in a local referee to call the fights. Kim Da Eun orders Tory to make her fight quick. Meanwhile, Kenny sees Robby helping Anthony train his blocks, and is absolutely livid at seeing his former mentor train his former bully. Robby tells him he is aware of Kenny's own recent behavior toward the boy, but Kenny is convinced that Anthony deserves it. Robby tries to convince Kenny that his anger is misplaced, and he and Anthony might get along if given the chance, as he was. Kenny ignores him, warns him to be glad he is not the one he's fighting, and promises to take his anger out on Eli instead. The fights begin, starting with the boys match. Eli is overconfident and underestimates his younger opponent, leading to him losing the first point quickly. Eli gets into the game and strikes Kenny, but the referee claims it was out of bounds, much to Johnny's dismay. Tory immediately starts to suspect that Silver has again paid off the referee to fix the fights. The boys continue, and Kenny lands an illegal strike into Eli's knee, gaining him a warning, but no disqualification. Eli's worried senseis ask if he is alright, and Eli decides its time to once again go by Hawk. As he prepares to start the next bout, Kenny immediately counters and hits him with the Silver Bullet move. Hawk collapses to the floor, unable to breath. The medic tends to the teen, and the referee quickly calls the match a forfeit win for Cobra Kai. Hawk slowly starts to get his breath back and is not permanently injured, but Daniel warns Sam she doesn't have to fight with Cobra Kai fighting dirty. Sam insists on continuing, if carefully, but as the girls are called up, they realize that Tory is missing. Silver goes outside, but she is gone. Kim Da Eun picks Devon to be their substitute, and eager to prove herself, Devon agrees. She is momentarily distracted at seeing her former sensei, Johnny, and her old fellow students, but focuses up to represent Cobra Kai. As the match begins, Sam kicks Devon below the shoulder, but the referee calls it a non-point for the shoulder itself. They go again, and Sam blocks a blow from Devon, but the referee calls it a point for Cobra Kai. Realizing the danger of losing the match on bad scoring, Sam calls a time out, and asks what she should do. Miguel tells her that she is the obvious better fighter, and Chozen and Daniel tell her that the only way to get around the "moron" ref, is to hold out until she can make each point completely indisputable. With this in mind, Sam returns to the mat. Despite Devon's confidence and training, she is outmatched by the young LaRusso, who scores the next three points in a row by striking in clear, obvious places. With no choice, the ref calls the match for Samantha. The Miyagi-Do/Eagle Fangs are elated, and Sam has made her father and senseis proud. Devon apologizes to Kim for losing. However Kim is only angry at Tory for abandoning her dojo. Devon is sure Tory had a good reason for disappearing, but Kim says that if Tory cannot be trusted, then she will train Devon to be the leader of Cobra Kai instead. After some deliberation, the judges come forward with their choice. Each dojo has done exceptionally well, and Cobra Kai has earned the right to join the Sekei Taikai. However, they have been moved by Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang's determination and impressive fighters, and in a first-time-ever decision, they have also been given the honor. Both dojos have gained entry to the world championships. Johnny, Daniel, and Chozen celebrate along with their students, though it is clear that Silver is furious at this development. Gunther congratulates Johnny and Daniel, and asks for their official dojo name. Johnny states that they are Miyagi-Do, but Daniel says they are also Eagle Fang. One dojo cannot succeed without the other, and their style and students represent the coming together of two disparate philosophies into one fellowship. Gunther understands, but only one name can be submitted. He says they have time to think about it however, and he welcomes them into the Sekei Taikai. The senseis express their pride in all their students, and tell them to take the night off to celebrate. Johnny takes Carmen and Rosa out and tells his boys to host the party at the apartment complex.
That night, the victory party rages into the night, attended by most of the kids from the neighboring school. Hawk encourages Miguel to cut loose and have a good time, and introduces him to one of the girls from East Valley High. Sam arrives to the complex with Miguel's necklace in hand and goes into the apartment, but find him kissing the girl from earlier. She runs out, and Miguel sees her and tries to follow. Sam is upset at the situation, but while outside she is suddenly approached by Tory. Sam gets ready for a fight, but Tory claims that she has something important to say; Sam didn't lose the All-Valley.
