Wow. This episode was quite messed up, but in good way, like most of the "creepy" and weird moments of this series. "Return to the Nightosphere" gives the viewers an opportunity to see in detail how is the life in the Nightosphere, the Adventure Time equivalent of hell, which is ruled by Hunson Abadeer, the Lord of Evil, who is also Marceline's father.
The chapter starts in a strange way, where Finn and Jake awakening in that nightmarish place without any idea of how they arrived there, and their attempts to find answers only lead them to be part of many bizarre situations. I think I saw some influence from Hieronymus Bosch paintings and Franz Kafka literary works (particularly concerning the dark sense of humor this episode had)
This chapter ends in a cliffhanger which is solved in "Daddys Little Monster".
