Pontus has always been an active guy who was involved in sports, dance and theatre. When he was 14, he was diagnosed with cancer and underwent emergency surgery for a brain tumor. The treatment was successful and Pontus was able to continue living a normal life. But nine years ago he suddenly fell ill again. He suffered from tinnitus and hearing problems. Pontus' problems escalated and after a couple of years he had balance problems, double vision, difficulty walking, back pain and coordination difficulties. In addition, the sense of smell disappeared. When Pontus comes to Dr. Stefan Branth and his team of doctors, he has almost given up hope of knowing what he is suffering from. He is worried that the problems will get even worse. After making an initial examination of Pontus, the team decides to follow five tracks in a broad investigation of the disease picture: tumor, otogenic disorder (inner ear disorder), back disease, neurological disease and hormonal disorder. The end result is striking. The medical team, with the help of leading neurological experts, succeeds in determining that Pontus suffers from an extremely rare disease that only a few people in the entire world have been affected by.
