Ever since my first encounter with Hummingbirds about 20 years ago in Estes Park, Colorado, I have been fascinated with them. Living in the migratory path of Ruby Throats I put out feeders every springtime and every late summer and still enjoy observing them. To my thinking, probably the most rugged bird, gram for gram, of them all.
This documentary, which aired recently on PBS, focuses on Hummingbirds in Costa Rica and how they facilitate the ecosystem. In fact, it is fair to say that if Hummingbird populations had never arisen there the ecosystem would look much different. This documentary covers all aspects of that.
A very worthwhile program.
