Teyana Taylor is stepping into the shoes of Dionne Warwick for a biopic.
The “Gonna Love Me” singer recently confirmed that she’s taking the role of the hit-making icon to Tamron Hall in an interview shared with Billboard.
“We’re already working on it,” Taylor said regarding the biopic. “We’re in the building process right now. I always wanted to make sure I could lock in with any person that I would be playing.”
Taylor detailed that she’s drawing inspiration from other famous Hollywood depictions, including Angela Bassett’s role as Tina Turner in 1993’s “What’s Love Got to Do With It” and Jamie Foxx’s portrayal of Ray Charles in 2004’s “Ray”.

Upon the release of Teyana Taylor’s new film, “A Thousand and One”, which hit theatres on Friday, the actress revealed that her character’s emotions pan out authentically because she was battling her own struggles behind the scenes.
In the drama, Taylor plays Inez, a hairdresser who “kidnaps her son Terry from the foster care system” in order to re-start their lives together. Offscreen, the actress in a mom to daughters Rue Rose, 2, and Iman Tayla (a.k.a. Junie), 6, with husband Iman Shumpert.
In a new interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Taylor, 32, explained why she felt “emotional” filming the project.
“I was actually six months postpartum when we started working on ‘A Thousand and One’. So I was dealing with literal postpartum depression,” she revealed.

He’s got more than sand in his boots. Morgan Wallen spent time down under, thanks to his One Night at a Time tour. This country artist even participated in a uniquely Australian tradition — for the second time. Here’s what the “One Thing at a Time” singer said about his first “shoey.”
What is a ‘shoey,’ and why are artists doing it on stage? Morgan Wallen attends the 56th Annual CMA Awards | Taylor Hill/FilmMagic via Getty Images
As described by the New York Times, “to ‘do a shoey’ is to pour alcohol (usually beer) into a shoe (yours or someone else’s) and chug it.” The drinking tradition has been practiced by some of the world’s biggest celebrities as an almost Australian rite of passage.
That includes Harry Styles, who drank from a shoe during the “Love On Tour.” In 2019, country artist Wallen was asked to participate by a fan,...

The soon to be revamped DC Extended Universe’s twelfth entry, “Shazam! Fury of the Gods”, the much-awaited sequel of the first silver screen adaptation of the origin of World’s Mightiest Mortal “Shazam”, has hit the screens worldwide. As fans already know, the disjointed condition of DC’s cinematic universe has been the cause of headache for fans and the creators alike, despite that, “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” takes few chances to tease the possibility of interconnected storytelling while recognizing the hindrances. There are two post-credits scenes which provide us crucial hints both for the larger DC universe and the expansion-related character-oriented lore of Shazam, respectively. We would like to connect the dots by forming a connection with the existing DC universe and also exploring some possible plot points from comics to determine what readers can expect from the third Shazam movie.

When Best Actress winner Michelle Yeoh came backstage to the Oscars press room following the show, she was filled with zeal for the way she and Everything Everywhere All at Once have moved the inclusivity needle.
“This is actually an historical moment so I really have to thank the Academy for acknowledging and embracing diversity and true representation,” she said. “This is something we have been working so hard towards, for a very long time…I’m still here today. Finally after 40 years I get this,” she went on, holding up her Oscar. “It just goes to show we will win. That’s what we’re doing. Don’t give up, because once you give up that’s a loss. Don’t let anybody put you in a box, don’t let anybody say you are past your prime.”

This late into awards season, we typically tend to know which movies and performances will triumph on Oscars night. But this year has been a bit more erratic than usual. The usual precursors – the Baftas, the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards – have been unusually diverse when it comes to winners, with voters choosing to spread around the wealth rather than focus on the same collection of faces each time. It means this weekend’s Oscars might actually be exciting to watch. It also means difficulty in predicting what will happen on the night.
This is partly down to an unusually strong line-up of nominees this year, from populist hits such as Avatar and Elvis to critical darlings such as Tár and The Banshees of Inisherin. Then there are the movies that were both bona fide phenomenons that made a lot of money and drew raves, like the...

A column chronicling conversations and events on the awards circuit.
The votes are in. The ballots are being counted. The clock is ticking toward Oscar Sunday (which also is the day the clock ticks ahead as daylight-saving time begins). This also means the party circuit is in full bloom, and if you wondered if anyone was still worried about Covid, as has been the case for the past two Oscar seasons due to the pandemic, well, think again. As evidence, the two celebrations I hit on Thursday night — one for the Australian Oscar nominees, the other for Irish nominees – were packed to the max, barely a mask in sight. And if anyone was worried, it seems they have decided to party hearty instead, at least until the hangover following this six-month awards season finally takes hold Monday morning.

Azerbaijani drama “Cold as Marble” was one of the big winners of Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. For “his powerful and nuanced performance as the mean and manipulative father”, Gurban Ismailov received the Best Actor award, and this is probably one of the most relatable prizes handed out at the night of the closing ceremony in Tallinn.
“Cold as Marble” is screening at Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema
Ismailov gives “Cold as a Marble” the necessary weight when he appears on screen almost halfway into the film. Playing a rough, emotionless man who has just returned home from prison, he becomes the centerpiece of the narrative and its solid rock. His role is dark but not without a pinch of humor, and there is a heavy polarity between his passive-aggressive behaviour and the likeability of his witty remarks. The first encounter with the old man is shockingly natural,...

Bob Dylan has been a celebrated musician for decades, but some of his projects have been unsuccessful. Dylan has been touring for the better part of the past 40 years, but according to his friend George Harrison, he’s always looking for a job outside of the music industry. Paul McCartney is one of the most recognizable names in the world, but the musician sometimes likes to have more anonymity with his projects. His lengthy discography becomes even longer if one includes all of the projects he did under various pseudonyms.
Here are 5 pseudonyms used by Paul McCartney in his career Percy Thrillington Paul McCartney | Gustavo Caballero/Getty Images
Percy Thrillington might be Paul McCartney’s coolest pseudonym, but he only used it once. McCartney used the pseudonym for the Thrillington album, an instrumental version of Ram, released in 1977. Only a handful of John Lennon‘s songs reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. However, some of his big singles are among the greatest songs of all time. Some of his other hits weren’t as good.
John Lennon | George Stroud / Stringer 8. ‘Nobody Told Me’
“Nobody Told Me” is the first single from John’s posthumous album Milk and Honey. It’s kind of a nothing song about nothing with no real hook. The track made it all the way to No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming John’s final top 10 single on the chart. “Nobody Told Me” likely wouldn’t have performed as well if not for the fascination surrounding John’s posthumous releases. While the song isn’t great, it’s not terrible. If this is John’s worst top 10 single, that’s a testament to his prowess.

Ariana DeBose is doing the thing and sharing her thoughts about the reaction to her much-debated viral rap from the recent 2023 BAFTA Awards ceremony.

Some classic rock songs are just terribly racist. The fact that some of these classic rock songs got any airplay is upsetting. For example, John Lennon released a song that was supposed to be feminist but failed miserably.
John Lennon | Harry Benson / Stringer 5. John Lennon’s ‘Woman is the N-Word of the World’
According to a 1980 interview from the book All We Are Saying: The Last Major Interview with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, John called “Woman Is the N-Word of the World” the first feminist song ever. That’s just false. He praises “Woman Is the N-Word of the World” for coming out before Helen Reddy’s “I Am Woman,” a song that aged far better.
In “Woman Is the N-Word of the World,” he’s definitely trying to speak about the oppression of women, but he repeatedly uses a slur to make his point. He never should have gone there.

After two years of collective bargaining, the WGA East has filed another unfair labor practices charge against Hearst Magazines Media – this time for giving employees a raise while in contract negotiations with the guild. The guild, which says that this violates federal labor law, represents some 500 of the publishing giant’s editorial, video, design and photo staff at more than 25 brands, including Esquire, Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar, Town & Country, Good Housekeeping, Popular Mechanics, Car & Driver, Oprah Daily, Seventeen, Elle, Redbook and Woman’s Day.
The complaint, filed today with the National Labor Relations Board, claims that “Within the last six months, the employer unilaterally implemented a wage increase for bargaining unit employees while it is in negotiations for a collective bargaining agreement with the charging party.”
This is the third unfair labor practices charge the guild has filed against the company for allegedly acting unlawfully during bargaining. In this latest case,...

Chelsea Handler eviscerated Tucker Carlson and Ben Shapiro on social media after they mocked her for being a “childless woman.” The beef among the TV personalities started on Valentine’s Day when Handler posted a playful comedy video about the “day in the life of a childless woman.” Carlson was apparently so triggered by the video that he referred to Handler on his show as an “aging, deeply unlikeable woman who never had kids.”
Carlson’s guest, the right wing radio host Jesse Kelly, took things even further by going on a misogynistic rant against Handler. Kelly said Handler’s “womb resembles a dried-up tumbleweed blowing down an old western town,” adding her “Valentine’s date for the 10th year in a row is a 10-year-old copy of ‘Magic Mike’ and a half-full bottle of Xanax, and you’re trying to pretend like you’re happy, but you’re not happy.

Artists like Beyoncé, Harry Styles, Adele, Lizzo, and more received nominations for Record of the Year. Here are our predictions for the 2023 Grammy Awards — and the winner in this category.
Who is nominated for Record of the Year at the 2023 Grammy Awards Harry Styles accepts the Best Pop Solo Performance award for ‘Watermelon Sugar’ during the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards | Kevin Winter/Getty Images for The Recording Academy
As one of the biggest categories at the 2023 Grammy Awards, several well-known artists earned nods in the Record of the Year category. This category shares similar nominees to Song of the Year.
However, as noted on the Grammy’s website, Record of the Year is awarded to “the Artist and to the Producer(s), Recording Engineer(s) and/or Mixer(s) and mastering engineer(s), if other than the artist.”
That means this category specifically recognizes the recording and technical aspects behind an original.

In early 2021, actor Armie Hammer’s Hollywood career came to a screeching halt after disturbing text messages emerged detailing Bdsm and cannibalism, followed by several accusations of sexual misconduct and, in the case of one woman, rape.
Two years later, Hammer is breaking his silence in the first interview since the scandal that’s cost him his career and his marriage, revealing he was a victim of child sexual abuse and that he was so distraught that he considered suicide.
Speaking with Air Mail, Hammer claimed that his interest in Bdsm stems from that childhood trauma, when he was sexually molested by a youth pastor when he was 13.
