One Piece is one of the rare few anime lucky enough to get a fresh start, a remake, while there are many others waiting in line for their turn. Some anime that were done wrong are still awaiting the time when their remake would be announced, but until then, Wit Studio is bringing forth Eiichiro Oda’s masterpiece for the eyes who find many ways of problems in the original series.

From the frames to the animation quality, changes have been made throughout every anime that progressed. To incorporate those changes into an anime that has generations worth of fans with it, Wit Studio took it upon themselves to make the remake.

In a recent interview uploaded by One Piece fan channel Onegashimasu Pirates, the manga’s current editor Kaito Anayama revealed that One Piece’s Egghead arc is poised to have an even bigger twist.
According to Anayama, the Egghead Arc was already receiving lot of praise after the developments in the recent chapters, the highlight of which was the broadcast message of genius scientist Vegapunk, which touched upon the hidden lore of One Piece universe.
The Egghead arc marks the beginning of the end for One Piece manga, and naturally, readers were looking forward to finally untangle the mysteries that Oda had been meticulously weaving for the past two decades.
While Vegapunk’s broadcast message itself was a monumental event in terms of filling the gaps, Anayama teased that an even bigger twist will mark the conclusion of the arc.

A previously unseen prototype of Eiichiro’s Oda’s One Piece manga has been unveiled by the series’ very first editor.
Originally titled Forward, it dates back to 1994 when Oda was just 19, and offers a glimpse into the ideas that would eventually evolve into the One Piece series.
Forward features a protagonist named Monkey D. Pao, an optimistic boy whose design bears a striking resemblance to Luffy. Pao’s bandana even sports a pattern reminiscent of the Gomu Gomu no Mi, the Devil Fruit that grants Luffy his rubber-like abilities.
Another key character in Forward is Rizel, a girl thief who shares similarities with Nami. The prototype also sheds light on the series’ formative crew dynamic.
According to Oda’s early drafts, Nami was initially intended to be the first crewmate to join Luffy on his journey. This detail was reflected by her presence on the cover of Chapter 1 alongside a then-absent Zoro.

Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece might be a widely recognized anime and manga series, but just like any other long-format anime, the series also has some problems that make it hard for the current generation to start the journey of the Straw Hat Pirates’ adventures. While the story has slowly tried to fix these problems, old episodes of the series are still suffering from them.

In a recent interview, George Wada, CEO of Wit Studio and Production I.G, said that The One Piece which is currently under production at Wit, will address two major flaws of the ongoing adaptation in order to attract new anime fans.
Wada acknowledged that the older 4:3 aspect ratio and animation techniques, along with the 1000 plus episode count might deter new viewers from watching the iconic anime.
He highlighted the need to make One Piece more visually appealing and accessible to younger audiences accustomed to modern animation styles.
“Due to technological advancements, young people who are used to watching modern anime might find the visuals of One Piece, which started airing 25 years ago, difficult to watch because of the different format,” he said.

The official website of One Piece announced on March 21, 2024, that the manga will be going on a three week break starting from Weekly Shonen Jump issue #18 releasing on April 1, 2024, to issue #20, which will release on April 15, 2024.
The manga will resume serialization in the magazine’s issue #21 that will release on April 22, 2024.
The website also shared a message from Eiichiro Oda regarding the hiatus, expressing concern that recent passing away of Akira Toriyama may have caused undue worry among fans. In addition to this, Oda also mentioned that he also has to think about what on earth One Piece is during this brief break.
Translation of the message can be read below:

Another year closes, and it sure was a newsy one! As my fourth year now doing this roundup, it's always fascinating to see what exactly ranks the highest as the year ends. Publishing this in the new year helps confirm my feeling that you need to let the current year end first, as any big news can break before December 31 (as you'll see soon). 2023 was a big year of change, particularly with Attack on Titan 's final finalized finale, but one that also continues to show the extended interests of anime fandoms. While you will normally be correct that Shonen Jump titles claim the crown for reads, don't count out the silently popular Isekai and/or reincarnation anime! Without further ado, here are the top-performing Crunchyroll news and features articles from the year 2023. The recent announcement of Wit Studio’s One Piece anime remake certainly had come as a surprise. The fandom was split, with a significant section vocally questioning whether the current anime adaptation by Toei warranted a remake.
The disappointment was not shared by fans alone, as even the staff working on the ongoing anime felt that their work was being undermined.
While the reason surrounding the announcement of the new One Piece remake still remains a mystery, some fans have linked this to Shueisha’s apparent dissatisfaction with the work that is done by Toei on the anime adaptation.
And in order to back this claim up, the infamous Buster Call project, which was orchestrated by Shueisha themselves, was brought up.
For those unaware Buster Call started off as an unofficial project in 2019, to collaborate with One Piece fans across the world in order to bring their vision surrounding One Piece...
