Amazing if you think about it....
"Francfort-sur-le-Main, Alter Marketplatz" is a pretty amazing film. I was fortunate to have been able to visit the German Film Museum in Frankfort and this was included on a reel of very old silent films shown on the first floor. While folks today probably think little of this corroded film, it is extraordinary because it is so early and also because it represents something unique--the famous Lumière Brothers from France went on location outside their native land to make the film. It also is amazing because this same old town section of Frankfurt was completely leveled in WWII and because of this it's a valuable piece of history. When you go to the same location today, it's all rebuilt--all post-war and a shadow of its former self. Because of this, I found it rather interesting.
