- Jeremy's cheap mushroom growing plan comes to fruition, whilst the mounting cost of essential farming goods begins to become a major concern for the farm.
- The calves are released back into the fields after their summer of confinement.
Jeremy can release the lamb into the brambles if they are 17 Kgs or over. Lisa and Jeremy spend the entire day taking their weights to determine if they are big enough to be released. All the goats are healthy and over the minimum weight limit. But if the goats escape their fencing, they could cause carnage on the farm, and they would eat through literally anything. The goats are super intelligent. They have been to roll drums up to the electric fence to short it and then escape. They will use the Pigloos to jump over the fence.
The goats are kept under electric fence with both low and high voltage settings. They are first released into a training field to harden their mouths and then into the brambles.
Jeremy has won the appeal against the local council, with virtually all of their restrictions being overturned. They have the permission to set up the cafe, restaurant, the farm shop, the parking and the lavatory facilities. The shop can sell anything, and the permissions are valid for 3 years.
Jeremy harvests his mushrooms, producing more than he can sell. Jeremy takes 2 crates of harvest to the farm shop. But the next time they visit the bunker, it is full of thousands of mushrooms. Jeremy has to abandon everything and focus on selling the mushrooms at the farm shop. Jeremy has to store the mushrooms as he cannot sell all of them in one day. But then every single day delivers an additional storeroom full of mushrooms and it cannot be sold fast enough. He resorted to selling them to local pubs and even local farm shops. Even then he wasn't selling enough quantities.
Lisa decides to convert the mushrooms into powder by heating them in the ovens. That way they last longer and sell for a lot more. 50 grams of Lion's Mane mushroom powder sells for 40 pounds. But Charlie says that Lisa cannot sell the mushroom powder without testing that it would not grow mold in 3 weeks' time.
Meanwhile, Kaleb and Charlie meet UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to discuss getting young people into farming. Charlie says that farmers now need a PhD to figure out all the grants that they are eligible for. Kaleb gets his time in front of Rishi but gets to his point in a really round about way.
The sows are now all pregnant. In June, the harvesting begins. Jeremy starts with harvesting the grass. The tree that Jeremy put back upright, has taken root within 6 months and is now thriving.
Jeremy and Kaleb taken another shot at fixing the dam. But this time the dam is inaccessible due to all the mulch around it. Jeremy brings back the Mulching machine to clear out a path. Then they abandon the pipe idea and decide to create a dam with just railway sleepers with the excess water flowing over from the top. Jeremy installs the foundation sleeper, but then it starts floating on water, and they are back to the drawing board again.
Charlie is worried as the weather has not been conducive for crops. Oilseed yield is down by half a ton per acre. The Barley crop is also maturing in spurts, which means that at harvest the mature crop will be mixed with the young crop and that would make it unsuitable for beer making.
Kaleb is now down 102,000 pounds. Jeremy is 15,000 pounds down on his half of the farm.
