It seems to be some goofy short student film that just uses the Collatz Conjecture to point out to some math obsessed guy that if he keeps obsessing over math he could miss out on meeting his soul mate.
This is the Collatz conjecture. Start with any positive integer. If the number is odd multiply it by three and add one. If even divide by two. Repeat. You will always eventually arrive at one. As in one soulmate. That is the tie in. The Collatz conjecture has been proven for integers as large as 2^68, but never proven using a proof. Thus this conjecture can waste lots of time if you let it.
If you want to know about the conjecture there are better sources.
