When a girl goes missing, two of her friends and a mysterious set of strangers find themselves drawn to the cabin in the woods where she disappeared. As events unfold, they will laugh, they will drink, they will kiss, they will make love — and most of them will die. This mid-Missouri-shot horror film was directed by St. Charles native Matt Stuertz, lensed by St. Louis’ go-to cinematographer Chris Benson, and features a cast of primarily local actors. Stephen Tronicek here at We Are Movies Geeks hails the film as “one of the funniest and most engaging pieces of exploitation to be crafted in the past few years” and describes Tonight She Comes as “the best...

The amount of talent in St. Louis is pretty amazing and it always warms my heart when I hear people outside of St. Louis catching on or getting involved with said talent. Matt Stuertz, who you might remember is film Rwd or via the YouTube webseries, Sixty Second Slashers, has a new film coming out called Tonight She Comes. I just got word across my inbox that it scored its world premiere at Manchester’s Grimmfest! Congrats to Matt! For the rest of you, here’s a teaser trailer and the festival poster. We’ll keep our ears to the ground on this one and keep you up to date. Did I mention that the film’s score is composed by Wojciech Golczewski (We Are Still Here, Beyond the Gates, Late Phases)? Yeah, I’m ready.

I don't know a lot about filmmaker Matt Stuertz (Rwd), but I do know that I love this teaser trailer for his new flick, Tonight She Comes, which we have below. If you love old-school horror trailers, you'll recognize the techniques used. There's a lot of nostalgia thrown around in horror films lately, but this teaser looks genuinely fun. Stuertz wrote, directed, and edited the film, and the original music was composed by Wojciech Golczewski (We Are Still Here, Late Phases, Beyond the Gates) --- which is even more exciting, because Golczewski knows his genre films. Tonight She Comes will be announcing festival dates soon, and I can't wait. What do you think of the teaser?...

Trailers are an under-appreciated art form insofar that many times they’re seen as vehicles for showing footage, explaining films away, or showing their hand about what moviegoers can expect. Foreign, domestic, independent, big budget: What better way to hone your skills as a thoughtful moviegoer than by deconstructing these little pieces of advertising? This week […]
