What would it take to get cycling legend Lance Armstrong back into the public eye in a way that he might not be reviled? Well, obviously it didn’t take much since Andy Samberg managed to get him on board for Tour de Pharmacy, an HBO spoof of the Tour de France in which around 170 athletes were seen to fail a drug test. Samberg plays along with John Cena, Orlando Bloom, Freddie Highmore, and many other noted actors to create this over the top comedy that showcases the grueling and demanding race. Given that it is a comedy however one

There’s still four stages to go in the 2017 Tour de France, but Polish cyclist Pawel Polijanski’s legs look like they’ve about had it.
Polijanski shared a photo of his veiny and sunburnt limbs on Instagram after completing Tuesday’s stage 16 of the annual French cycling race, writing, “After sixteen stages I think my legs look little tired.”
The athlete’s on-the-nose comment and accompanying image quickly went viral.
According to Cycling Weekly, Polijanski’s prominent veins are caused by the exertion cyclists put on their vascular system when they race for several hours a day.

At the beginning of our interview, grasping for a way to describe the latest weirdo star-studden comedy sports special airing on HBO, IndieWire referred to “Tour De Pharmacy” as “the latest installment in the ‘Legends of Sports’ franchise.”
“I love that you said that,” star/executive producer Andy Samberg said.
“Are we allowed to say we have a franchise? I mean, I’ll take it,” writer Murray Miller said.

By “franchise,” we meant the ongoing “30 for 30”-inspired sports mockumentary series that began in the summer of 2015 with “7 Days in Hell,” a star-studded comedy special that chronicled a fictional tennis match that reached absurd heights. Starring Samberg and Kit Harrington, the cast also included Mary Steenburgen, Karen Gillan, Lena Dunham, Will Forte, June Squibb, Michael Sheen, Fred Armisen and more, including narration by Jon Hamm.

Amazon Prime Video wants to be a global powerhouse in reality TV, and it’s relying on the international language of sports to grow that business.
Following the return of the Amazon NFL series “All or Nothing” (which this year chronicles a season inside the Los Angeles Rams organization), the streaming service has ordered a similar show that follows New Zealand’s national rugby team.
The series will focus on the “All Blacks,” which is known as having the best winning record of any team sport in history (84% wins over the last 130 years).
Reality vet Eden Gaha, whose credits include “Survivor,” “Celebrity Apprentice” and “Masterchef,” will executive produce the series. Like “All or Nothing,” the All Blacks series will train cameras on the rugby club during its 2017-2018 season. That included a recent match against the British and Irish Lions (which takes place once every 16 years) and the annual Rugby Championship in August.

Wendy Burch probably should have gone after a desk job. The KTLA5 reporter was sent to Hermosa Beach in Southern California on Tuesday to cover a unique Fourth of July “Ironman” competition, in which participants must run a mile on the beach, paddle a mile in the ocean, and then chug a six-pack of beer. Some “athletes” handled that last leg better than others. Predictably, there was some up-chucking — Burch probably didn’t plan her patriotic outfit out to be paired with vomit, however. On America’s birthday, grown men raced bicycles in France. One guy won’t be participating any longer in the 2017 Tour de France, however, after being disqualified for causing a rough crash. World champion Peter Sagan got disqualified from the Tour for cutting across Mark Cavendish’s racing line, nudging the Manx sprinter over with an elbow. Cavendish hit the Stage 4 side barrier — hard. Sagan had actually won Stage 3 and elbowed his way to close as Stage 4’s runner-up — but that’s as far as his bike will go this year. Watch the video above. HBO is TV's unofficial king of summer, with the return of water-cooler dominator Game of Thrones, a deep-dive portrait of twin musical innovators Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine and Andy Samberg doing for professional cycling what he did for tennis. There's plenty to peruse beyond premium cable, of course, as the networks ready sci-fi–inflected procedurals and FX unveils an ambitious new period drama set in the cradle of crack cocaine. Here's what you need to be tuning into this month.

"This is what happens when we train super hard on the bicycle." HBO has premiered the full-length trailer for the mockumentary comedy Tour de Pharmacy, starring Andy Samberg as a cyclist competing in bicycle races during the 1980s. The film is a hilarious satire making fun of the cycling world and the fact that almost all of the cyclists in the Tour de France were on drugs. The first teaser for this was funny enough to completely sell me, but this one is even better. I can't wait to see this! The full cast includes John Cena, Freddie Highmore, Daveed Diggs, Orlando Bloom, and a whole bunch of others, like Jeff Goldblum and Mike Tyson. Plus there is an appearance by the one-and-only king of doping, Lance Armstrong, which is a bit crazy. Everything about this seems so absurd, but that's why it looks so damn good. Enjoy it! Here's...

I am a huge fan of Mockumentaries. Some of my favorite filmmakers are well known for starting their careers as Mockumentary directors. Now HBO is making a habit of creating their own series of them.
A couple years ago, HBO produced a Tennis Mockumentary called 7 Days in Hell starring Andy Samberg and Kit Harrington. The production was a success, so HBO is at it again with a series called Tour De Pharmacy parodying the Tour de France that takes place and the doping that often takes place.
In 1982, during a dark and fictitious time in cycling history, the sport’s most venerable, time-honored race was marred by the doping of virtually all of its competitors. Riddled with nefarious characters, that year’s competition was a hornet’s nest of moral depravity. Through the perspective of five riders, Tour De Pharmacy gives an inside look into the grim realities of the...

HBO has garnered acclaim for their prestige TV offerings, but one of their most underrated contributions to the television landscape is 2015’s “7 Days in Hell,” a mockumentary of the infamous John Isner/Nicolas Mahut Wimbledon showdown that shattered the record for longest tennis match in history. On the strengths of stars Andy Samberg and Kit Harrington, “7 Days in Hell” also took aim at a few of the legendary tennis rivalries of the 70s, 80s and 90s that brought the sport into the mainstream.
It’s a goofy, perfectly timed spoof that plays with the familiar tropes of sports docs, namely the ones in Espn’s “30 for 30” series. Apparently, it worked so well that HBO wanted more. Samberg and “7 Days in Hell” writer Murray Miller have reteamed for another trip through niche sports history with “Tour de Pharmacy,” a fictional look at a doping scandal in the world of 80s cycling.

Colcoa is keeping up with the times. Now in its twenty-first year, the lauded French film festival, sponsored by the Franco-American Cultural Fund, has added a pair of forward-thinking new categories for its newest edition. This year will include a virtual reality program and a web series competition, in addition to its Cinema, Television and Shorts competitions.
“These two new popular formats offer more opportunities to showcase the creativity of French producers and filmmakers as well as the diversity of French production,” said François Truffart, Colcoa Executive Producer and Artistic Director. “While entertainment is still the key word for the program, with a balanced mix of comedies and dramas, several topical issues will cover the program this year, including the environment, discrimination, racism, terrorism, and the role of the artist in society. More than ever, Colcoa will offer a unique opportunity to see these universal topics from different angles.”

The recent turmoil in global sports over doped athletes, corrupt officials and tainted results has produced a pair of headline-grabbing supervillains in American cyclist Lance Armstrong — stripped of his seven Tour de France titles for doping — and current conspiracy poster-country Russia, which saw over a hundred of its athletes banned from the 2016 Rio Olympic games. Playwright and amateur cyclist Bryan Fogel’s propulsive documentary “Icarus” is (accidentally, Fogel would admit) a convergence of those stories.
