The wife of the Canadian

Lord, with a mother and a wife as dramatic as she is, I'd welcome prison. The man is the one going through the worst of it, and she is constantly playing how hard it is for her, then creating more harm by speaking about "how horrible" it will be for the children. If she would shut up, she would do less injury. Overall, movie is worth a watch.

There are better documentaries on the same subject

There is only one person that is a good subject. Another 2 have the attitude of "What's the big deal" when they clearly committed crimes. I fast forwarded through some of the whiney stuff, and finally quit watching. I've known quite a few people that have done time, most of them would be better subjects. Also, the title is fairly misleading. There is very little on the actual preparation subject, more on the trials.

Excellent portrayal of an under-examined issue

Thought-provoking and touching account of the toll going to prison takes on people's lives. The viewer can't help wondering if the punishment, and the excruciating journey through the justice system, fits the crime or even works for society at all. Well done.
