From 1997-2000 it was shooting under the working title, The Zim House Horror. At first it was just a mostly improvised on-the-fly project that was shot during breaks from other films. During this period mostly dream/attack/death scenes were being shot. It wasn't until mid-2000 that major re-writes and additional shooting occurred which branched several of these previously shot scenes together. In shooting/writing this way over 40 scenes ended up on the cutting room floor. Several scenes were also shot multiple times because of this very improvised writing/production style.
The opening and final scenes were shot over 4 years apart.
The orange transparent floppy disk that is removed from the machine at the beginning of the movie has the title, The Zim House Horror written on it. This is a reference to the movie's working title.
Marks the first time that knife violence and on-screen blood was used by the filmmakers.
This movie was shot with several cameras over the course of it's 4 year production. These included a Sylvania VHS Camcorder, a Hitachi VHS Camcorder, a Sharp Hi8 Camcorder, and 3 different Sony Hi8 Camcorders.
