Excitement is at an all-time high as in just a little over a month, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will be returning to their iconic roles in Deadpool 3 a.k.a. Deadpool & Wolverine. Anyone who has been far from the superhero genre for the longest time will vouch that things have been a little dull lately and that superhero fatigue exists even in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Ryan Reynolds wasn’t going to make ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ without Shawn Levy. After the 47-year-old actor worked with filmmaker, 55, on ‘Free Guy’ (2021) and ’The Adam Project’ (2022), Ryan decided he would only work on a third Marvel flick - which also stars 55-year-old Hugh Jackman as the iconic mutant superhero - if Shawn was behind the camera.Speaking to Deadline, the director said: “Hugh, in like 2011, Hugh said, ‘You know, if you ever meet Ryan Reynolds and work with him, you're never going to stop.’ He said that over a decade ago. “And it took several years before I met Ryan, but the first time we met to talk about ‘Free Guy’, it was clear that we'd both had successful careers, but we were meeting in the right moment. “We're old enough to know a really good thing when we stumble into it and not let go. “And ‘Free Guy...

X-Men: The Last Stand tried to adapt two big comic book storylines with "The Dark Phoenix Saga" and "The Cure," only to ultimately do neither of them justice (a fact that haunted writer Simon Kinberg to the extent he tried again with Dark Phoenix...and failed a second time).
The 2006 movie was a critical and commercial disappointment and, five years later, 20th Century Fox decided to reboot the franchise with X-Men: First Class.
The prequel revisited the formation of the X-Men, meaning everyone aside from Hugh Jackman - who made a brief cameo appearance - was recast. That included Beast actor Kelsey Grammer.
He'd eventually reprise the role for a surprise cameo in X-Men: Days of Future Past, but with Nicholas Hoult taking his place, that seemed to be the end of the road for Grammer. Well, until a shocking return in The Marvels' post-credits scene last November!

The ongoing struggle to elevate animated features to the same level of best-picture recognition as live-action films will undoubtedly resurface by year’s end. This time, the spotlight will be on Pixar’s highly successful sequel, “Inside Out 2,” a film that could bring joy and success amid a dark cloud hovering around Hollywood studios.
With debut director Kelsey Mann taking over from Pete Docter, the second installment follows Riley (Kensington Tallman) during her teenage years. Along with her core emotions — Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Anger (Lewis Black), Fear, and Disgust — she begins encountering new emotions, notably Anxiety (Maya Hawke).
The first film had a budget of $175 million and made $858 million worldwide. It received two Oscar noms for original screenplay and animated feature, winning the latter. However, during the era when the Academy recognized 5-10 movies for best picture, it didn’t land among the eight that included...

Earlier today, a handful of new Deadpool & Wolverine stills were released. We quickly spotted Toad in the background, while Juggernaut - whether Vinnie Jones is wearing the suit remains to be seen - could also be glimpsed behind Logan.
Now, though, we may have identified the mysterious Void Variant wearing a black trenchcoat. While this is by no means confirmed, it seems to be the version of Blade played by Sticky Fingaz (credited as Kirk "Sticky" Jones) in 2006's Blade: The Series.
Picking up after the events of Blade: Trinity, the show only lasted 13 episodes on Spike before being cancelled after a single season. David S. Goyer spearheaded the show and it even featured music from then-future Game of Thrones composer Ramin Djawadi.
Enlisting Sticky Fingaz in place of Wesley Snipes would be the ultimate "f*** you" move from Ryan Reynolds. It's no secret the two didn't get along while shooting Blade: Trinity,...

If Deadpool asks to borrow your jar of peanut butter, Do Not, I repeat, Do Not give it to him. The Merc with a Mouth, historically speaking, is all about Vanessa. Still, in the new Deadpool & Wolverine images, the assassin in the red pajamas looks like he’s about to become the Wayne Gretzky of tonsil hockey with the Pug and Chinese Crested mix, Dogpool. Total Film brings fans the new Deadpool & Wolverine images in an exclusive preview of the upcoming Marvel sequel featuring Wade and Logan in the steamy heat of battle.

Deadpool & Wolverine is Marvel Studios' only 2024 movie; had last year's Hollywood strikes not happened, then the Merc with the Mouth and Logan would have been joined by Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts*.
Instead, those now join The Fantastic Four in 2025 (along with Blade - Lol) and the pressure is on the Deadpool threequel to "save" the McU's Multiverse Saga.
Talking to Total Film, Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy commented on the pressure that places on this movie. "We had no idea it would be this unique moment where people are asking what the MCU means any more," the filmmaker says. "Can it surprise us? Can it break molds in ways that we don't expect? We certainly hope that this movie is an answer to those questions."
"What Kevin Feige has built with the MCU is historic as far as a string of successes, but culture has its tide chart,...

Marvel will be able to release their upcoming “Deadpool & Wolverine” film in China. However, they will likely need to make some edits to the film to do so. The film is set to be released in China on July 26, 2024, the same day it is released in North America.
The first “Deadpool” film was not allowed to be released theatrically in China due to the violence. “Deadpool 2” was permitted to release, but not until it was turned into the PG version “Once Upon a Deadpool“ film version.
Hollywood has long appealed to the Chinese market, but in recent years, it hasn’t been as successful in getting films released there. Disney needs every market it can get, and China used to be one of its big ones. It seems that Disney will pander when needed to win over the huge market.

We know that Marvel has recently acquired the rights to the X-Men, which means that the characters from Fox’s popular franchise are coming to the MCU sooner rather than later. And while the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine is going to serve as a light introduction of the Mutants into the MCU, we’re still waiting for an official introduction that will completely integrate the X-Men into the MCU. Marvel certainly has a tough job ahead of them. The X-Men has a long and quite successful cinematic history, as the fans are used to a certain standard, which is often different from what we usually see in the MCU.
And while the MCU is still keeping quiet about the future of the Mutants, fans are active online and are making or proposing fan castings of certain characters. Based on some recent fan art that has appeared on Instagram, the fans...

This year’s summer box office has been filled with somber emotions so far, but Disney Pixar's ‘Inside Out 2’ is eliciting joy and relief, delivering a massive $155 million domestic opening. The animated sequel shattered projections and set several records, including the biggest animated debut since ‘The Incredibles 2’ in 2018 and the largest opening overall since last summer's ‘Barbie.’ Its $295 million global start also set a new high mark for an animated film, and while it coincided with three major streaming releases over the weekend (“The Boys” Season 4 premiere, the conclusion of “Bridgerton” Season 3, and the second season debut of “House of the Dragon”), that programming was geared toward adults and didn’t pose a threat to theatrical family fare.
The stellar start for ‘Inside Out 2’ provided a huge boost to the summer box office after a sluggish past few months. The film's reviews were overwhelmingly positive at 8.0 on IMDb, fueling excellent word-of-mouth. Amy Poehler returned as the voice of Joy, leading an ensemble that included new additions like Maya Hawke as the personification of teenage Anxiety.
In second place, Sony's ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die’ fell 41.6% to $33 million in its second weekend, bringing the Will Smith/Martin Lawrence action sequel to $112 million domestically and $215 million globally. That’s still a solid showing that eased any concerns about Smith’s ability to draw crowds post-slap.
20th Century's ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ took third place with $5.2 million in its sixth weekend. The sci-fi action film has now grossed $157.8 million in North America and $374.5 million globally, continuing the strong run for the revived Apes franchise.
While Hollywood has accepted that 2024 totals will end up well behind 2023’s box office gross, the successful opening was a step towards chipping away at a steep year-over-year decline (down 26% going into the weekend). The industry can chalk this up as a win, but the relief will be short-lived as studios look to the remaining summer tentpoles—like ‘A Quiet Place: Day One,’ ‘Despicable Me 4,’ ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ and ‘Twisters’—to deliver before shifting focus to the fall and holiday seasons.

When it was announced that the third movie in the Deadpool franchise would be released under its new Disney overlords, many had speculated that it might get its bite taken from it since the company does not partake in more mature content. The character of Deadpool is a crass one, and the source material can get incredibly crude, which the previous films have been able to capitalize on with their adult-oriented entries. Thankfully, Kevin Feige would put everyone’s worries to rest when he made sure that Deadpool & Wolverine would be shooting for an R-rating.

Following last week's cover reveals, Total Film has shared a handful of new stills from Deadpool & Wolverine ahead of its release in theaters this July.
The first shows the title characters surrounded by The Void's pruned Variants and, if you look closely, you'll see that X-Men villain Toad is among them. We still can't say for sure who is playing him, but this version appears to be based on Ray Park's early 2000s take on the mutant. And yes, that also looks like Juggernaut begins the clawed mutant!
Next is a battle-damaged Wolverine and, at this point in the movie, he still has those sleeves.
Finally, we see an unmasked Logan and Wade Wilson, with the latter enjoying the attention he's getting from his canine Variant, Dogpool. That appears to be from the reshoots which took place earlier this year.

A lot of MCU fans have been anticipating the release of the upcoming film due to many reasons whether it's the titular heroes teaming up for the first time, Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool finally being part of the MCU, or its multiversal aspect and cameos.
There are a lot of stakes for its release since it is seen as the film that could save the MCU after the underwhelming reception of some of its releases in the past few years and set the tone for the franchise moving forward.

Alan Cumming played Nightcrawler in 2003's X2: X-Men United, though the role ended up being a one-and-done for the actor. He didn't return for X-Men: The Last Stand and was also absent from X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Later, Kodi Smit-McPhee replaced Cumming as a younger version of Kurt Wagner, portraying the teleporting mutant in X-Men: Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix. Unfortunately, we never got anything quite as memorable as the original Nightcrawler's attack on the White House.
Talking to Entertainment Weekly about his status as a queer actor, Cumming reflected on his superhero movie debut and explained why he believes the X-Men sequel is by far his "gayest film."
"Oh, I think the X-Men film I'm in [2003’s X2: X-Men United,] is the gayest film that I've ever done. It's got a queer director, lots of queer actors in it," he tells the site. "I love the fact that something...

Hugh Jackman has been a part of the X-Men since the 2000s and has played Wolverine for over 20 years. The role made him a household name and has carried the X-Men brand for all these years. The character has now joined the MCU alongside Deadpool and will appear in Deadpool & Wolverine next month.
Hugh Jackman has played Wolverine since 2000’s X-Men | 20th Century Fox
Before all the multiverse shenanigans that are currently going on in the MCU, the X-Men, and the Avengers were separate entities and came from different studios. There were hopes of seeing them reunite on-screen for many years. Even Jackman dreamt of one day seeing all the Marvel characters come together to fight a common enemy, and his 2013 prediction may come true soon.

The Hollywood Reporter (and Marvel's Chinese social media accounts) have confirmed that Deadpool & Wolverine will get a day-and-date release in China on July 26.
This thumbs up from Beijing's film regulators marks the first time one of the Merc with the Mouth's movies will premiere in China at the same time as the U.S. and the rest of the world. When it comes to box office takings, this is going to be huge for the Marvel Studios threequel.
The days of superhero movies - or Hollywood fare in general - making hundreds of millions in the Middle Kingdom are largely over. However, this should still help Deadpool & Wolverine make serious bank.
2016's Deadpool was denied a release in China due to its graphic, R-Rated content. As for Deadpool 2, that only arrived in Chinese theaters after it had been reworked into the PG-13 version titled Once Upon a Deadpool.

China Box Office: ‘Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle’ Notches Another Chinese Win for Japanese Animation
Japanese animation film “Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle” took a clear lead at the mainland China weekend box office – despite only being available for two of three days.
Data from consultancy firm Artisan Gateway showed the film scoring $9.8 million (RMB69.4 million) in China, more than double that of second placed film “Be My Friend.” The win came despite “Haikyu!!” only being released on Saturday and measuring up against other tiles available throughout the whole of the Friday-Sunday period.
“Haikyu!!” is the third Japanese film so far this year to lead the mainland Chinese box office, following “The Boy and the Heron” and “Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s Earth Symphony.”
It was produced by Production Ig, Toho Animation and Sony Music Entertainment Japan and released by Crunchyroll in multiple territories. In China, the release was backed by China Film Corp and Road Pictures, the indie which previously handled “The First Slam Dunk” and “Suzume.

Disney/Marvel Studios’ wildly anticipated Deadpool & Wolverine has landed a day-and-date release in China on July 26. The approval from Beijing’s film regulators marks the first time the Merc with a Mouth has gotten the greenlight to launch in China simultaneously with the U.S.
Disney announced the news Monday over Marvel’s Chinese social media accounts.
The original Deadpool (2016), produced when Marvel fever was near its all-time high in China, was denied a release because of its graphic content. Deadpool 2 (2018) eventually hit Chinese screens, but months late and only after it had been reworked into the holiday season PG-13 version known as Once Upon a Deadpool. China still managed to generate $42 million in ticket sales for the title, the bulk of the youth-friendly rerelease’s $51 million worldwide total.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” will enjoy a release in mainland Chinese cinemas on July 26, simultaneous with its North American outing. And, despite hailing from what is arguably Marvel’s most adult franchise, the film will incur only “minimal cuts” for its China release.
All foreign films entering China require permission to be imported, to clear censorship and must be allocated a release date by local authorities.
The Film Bureau-approved China release on July 26 was announced Monday morning local time in China via Marvel’s local Weibo (social media) account and subsequently confirmed by Disney.
In a separate Weibo post, Marvel said that star Hugh Jackman (who has a considerable following in China), Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy will be in China for promotional duties on July 2.
While Disney and Marvel were not specific about the censor-imposed edits to the film, the cuts were reported to be “minimal and are due to violence,...

At last. A weekend to sincerely cheer.
“Inside Out 2” (Disney) would have been terrific at a $100 million opening weekend, but it soared to an estimated $155 million. Meantime, “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” (Sony), would have been thought successful with a 50 percent drop in its second weekend. Instead, it is off 42 percent with $33 million after an opening weekend of $56.5 million.
In what was set up to be a do-or-die critical two-weekend period, “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” (Sony) and “Inside Out 2” (Disney) exceeded expectations — and more importantly, at the same time. It’s hard to overestimate how much dread there was ahead of these two releases. Had either or both fell short of reasonable expectations, as did to many recent high-end releases before them, the despair would have reached new lows.
Instead, not only did both franchise titles come through, they also exceeded best hopes. That happened last nearly a year ago,...

The aftermath of Thanos’ snap left a lasting impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with massive canonical as well as real-life impacts. On one hand, the characters of the universe have come to terms after the events of Avengers: Endgame, and almost every subsequent project from the studios so far has either referred to that event or has had changes made to its storyline.
In terms of box office, a mega slump and wave of criticisms have more or less diluted the mega-pull that the studio once commanded.

Move over Anxiety, there’s a new dominant emotion at the box office: Joy!
Disney and Pixar’s expressive animated sequel “Inside Out 2” scored a mighty $155 million in its first weekend of release, overtaking “Dune: Part Two” ($82.5 million) and “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” ($80 million) as the biggest opening of the year. It’s also the first movie since last July’s “Barbie” ($162 million) to debut above $100 million. Heading into the weekend, the follow-up film to 2015’s cerebral hit “Inside Out” was projected to collect $80 million to $90 million.
The second “Inside Out 2” also connected at the international box office with $140 million, enough to surpass “Frozen 2” ($135 million) as the biggest overseas animated opening of all time. Turnout was especially strong across Latin America, where it landed the second-biggest opening of all time behind Disney’s Marvel epic “Avengers: Endgame.” Globally, the movie has grossed $295 million to notch...

Deadpool & Wolverine is set to hit the theaters in about a month, and one Marvel scoop about Hugh Jackman’s yellow suit in the film would make any fan sad. Jackman played Wolverine for the first time in X-Men in 2000, and he never wore the yellow & navy blue suit in his entire run with the 20th Century Fox movies. Batman is one of the most iconic characters of all time, with a legacy extending many decades. In the many years since its live-action debut, the character has been portrayed in different ways with his iconic bat suit undergoing several transformations. However, one thing has always remained consistent: Batman and his dark black eyes.

The 2024 box office is in the pits, clearly, and Sony just bought the Alamo Drafthouse in a disturbing, do-anything-to-survive sign of the times. But is there hope on the horizon, with Marvel’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” already expected to save the 2024 box office?
Well, the early word is massive and good. According to Deadline, The Quorum film tracker, which actually monitors pics six weeks ahead, is reporting a projection of $200M-$239M, which, according to the trade, “the service actually believes is conservative.”

“Deadpool & Wolverine” is one of the most important movies coming out this summer. It’s the first time Deadpool is in the MCU, and the studio hopes to fix some issues they’ve had in recent years.
A recent list of 2023 box office failures put Disney at the top. It was the first time in a long while that the company didn’t have a billion-dollar movie. “The Marvels” was a huge flop, causing big losses for the company.
The first sign that “Deadpool & Wolverine” would do well at the box office was the presale of tickets, which broke several records. Early box-office projections now suggest that “Deadpool & Wolverine” will set a new record for the biggest R-rated opening, beating the first “Deadpool” movie.

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is one of the, if not the most important movie releasing this summer. The movie is Deadpool’s first foray into the MCU and the studio’s attempt to “right some wrongs” that were plaguing their production over the last several years.
A recently released list of 2023 box office losers, put Disney at the top of the list, as it was the first year in a long time that the major media company did not have a billion-dollar movie. ‘The Marvels’ was a catastrophic release for the company, resulting in eye-watering losses.

Deadpool & Wolverine may, in some ways, not be able to top the kind of hype that Avengers: Endgame had been able to garner, but boy, it is surely running close. An early report ahead of the movie’s release on July 26 claims that it is tracking to earn around $200-$239 million on its opening weekend alone, which is not even surprising.
Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool in Deadpool & Wolverine | Marvel Entertainment
However, it breaks away from the recent trending argument that the MCU has suffered since Endgame due to superhero fatigue. After all, The Marvels earned just over $84 million during its total run in the domestic box office. And the last time the MCU breached the $500 million mark domestically was via SpiderMan: No Way Home in 2021.
The early tracking suggests Deadpool & Wolverine will make a mockery of the alleged superhero fatigue and break some more records.

The early tracking suggests Deadpool & Wolverine will make a mockery of the alleged superhero fatigue and break some more records.

We've now reached the six-week countdown to Deadpool & Wolverine's release, and as we write this, Marvel Studios still hasn't shared an official shot of Hugh Jackman wearing the clawed mutant's iconic mask.
We've seen plenty of images of the actor in his comic-accurate suit and the mask has been heavily featured in promo art and merchandise such as upcoming Hot Toys action figures and Funko Pops. For whatever reason, though, it's yet to make it into a TV spot or official still.
Despite concerns from fans that the actor will don the mask for only a scene or two, it was recently reported that it'll receive at least 10 minutes of screentime. That's better than nothing, but why does Wolverine finally wear his colourful suit in the threequel?
According to scooper @MyTimeToShineH, Cyclops and X-Men repeatedly asked Wolverine to wear the uniform (to better fit into the team), only for him to repeatedly refuse.

The summer box office is finally heating up with Bad Boys: Ride or Die and Pixar’s Inside Out 2 putting asses in cinema seats across the globe. With people shelling out simoleons for the theater-going experience, analysts predict big numbers for Marvel’s upcoming superhero bromance Deadpool & Wolverine. According to The Quorum, six-week tracking predicts a $200M-$329M gross for Deadpool & Wolverine, and those numbers are on the low end of the spectrum. The sequel starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as Wade Wilson and Logan Howlett, respectively, could slash its way to more dinero as the pairing of the two heroes is one of the most anticipated events in superhero cinema history.
The original Deadpool broke records with $132.4M in February 2016. So, even if Deadpool & Wolverine blows kisses at the box office with $150M, the threequel still surpasses the original’s outstanding number. Few things could kneecap Deadpool & Wolverine,...

We've heard various bits and pieces about Deadpool & Wolverine breaking minor ticket-selling records, but Marvel Studios' first R-Rated movie has finally hit box office tracking boards.
According to Deadline, six weeks ahead of the threequel's release, it's eyeing a massive $200 million - $239 million opening weekend. However, The Quorum (which monitors tracking) believes this is a "conservative" estimate.
As the trade rightly points out, an R-Rated movie has never opened to as much as $200 million before; in fact, the current record is held by the first Deadpool movie. In 2016, it debuted with $132.4 million, but Deadpool & Wolverine will almost certainly top that number.
That R-Rating is going to reduce the number of people who watch the movie in theaters, but the vast majority of chains allow children under 17 to watch titles with that rating providing they're accompanied by an adult who is above the age of 21.
The report later explains,...

With just six weeks left until Deadpool & Wolverine arrives in theaters, Total Film is the latest publication to put the Merc with the Mouth and Logan front and centre in an upcoming issue.
The first cover shows Wade Wilson getting close to an unhappy Wolverine and we expect the budding friendship between the McU's "best bubs" to be a huge part of their respective arcs in this movie.
The next cover puts the spotlight solely on Dogpool, one of several Deadpool Variants expected to appear in the Multiversal adventure. Chances are the magazine will soon share new details and stills for Deadpool & Wolverine, though we wouldn't expect anything too spoilery or revealing this close to its release.
"There's probably fewer friends in our life that you can say anything to, the stuff you're ashamed, embarrassed, anything," Hugh Jackman recently said of his real-life friendship with Ryan Reynolds in...

Exclusive: Disney/Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine hit six week tracking this morning and, man, does it look amazing. The Quorum, which actually monitors pics six weeks ahead, is reporting a projection of $200M-$239M, which the service actually believes is conservative.
Let’s give this an asterisk: There has never been an R-rated movie before that has opened to $200M, and by the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman threequel busting that sphere, it will be an anomaly. The current record for an R-rated opening at the domestic box office is owned by the original Deadpool which posted $132.4M back in February 2016. Even if Deadpool & Wolverine comes in at $150M, it will still rep the biggest opening for both Reynolds (beating Deadpool) and Jackman (besting X-Men: The Last Stand‘s $103M). At that level,...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is being much more careful with what it’s releasing, given the year that it had in 2023. 2024 is seeing the Studio release only one film, Deadpool & Wolverine, after which the Studio is going to wait till 2025 for its next release. However, it seems that fans are convinced that there is no course correction on the way, given the latest update on Marvel’s Mahershala Ali-led Blade.

Marvel lost another director for Blade, as it has been revealed that Yann Demange, the second director who was on-boarded for the project after Bassam Tariq, who was the first choice for Marvel to head the show. Fans on the internet are furious, given that this would cause further delays for Blade to make his debut in the MCU, despite the actor being cast for the role and even teased at the end of Eternals.
