David Duchovny, Jack Whitehall, and Carice van Houten are set to star in a new psychological thriller series that has been ordered at Amazon’s Prime Video, Variety has learned exclusively.
Titled “Malice,” the UK original hails from writer and executive producer James Wood. The series will be a co-production between Expectation Entertainment and Tailspin Films for Prime Video.
Exact plot details are being kept under wraps, but sources say the series will follow a young man (Whitehall) who seeks to infiltrate the world of a wealthy family, with Duchovny and van Houten playing the heads of that family.
Duchovny is best known for his starring role in the hit Fox supernatural procedural “The X-Files,” on which he starred as FBI agent Fox Mulder. He played the character not only through much of the series and its recent revival on Fox, but also in two “X-Files” feature films. Duchovny is...

Damian Kavanagh, the managing director of Peaky Blinders and Netflix’s Jack Whitehall: Travels with My Father producer Tiger Aspect, is stepping down after nearly two years.
Kavanagh joined Tiger Aspect in 2019 after a spell running BBC Three, where he commissioned shows including Fleabag. His departure follows Tiger Aspect’s parent company Endemol Shine being acquired by Banijay.
Banijay UK’s executive chairman Peter Salmon said Kavanagh had resigned after the pair had engaged in a “fair bit” of discussion about his future. Kavanagh said he is leaving to pursue some “new adventures.”
“We will be very sorry to see him go, but I’m pleased to say that he has agreed to stay on until the end of November to help Lucinda and I with the transition to life post Dk,” Salmon said in a note to staff.

An overwhelming amount of subscribers might not have been able to look past Enola Holmes when it debuted on Wednesday, with the literary adaptation dominating both the online chatter and Top 10 most-watched list ever since, but the apparent franchise starter wasn’t the only title to arrive on Netflix this week worthy of spending a couple of hours on.
Of course, the streaming service isn’t in the position to have a library built entirely on in-house content, and likely won’t be for a long while yet, but as the platform with seemingly the biggest bank account that’s spending $20 billion on original projects alone and millions more on the distribution rights to pre-existing material each year, Netflix have long since established themselves as the ones to beat.

As if you’re not already filled to the brim with excellent content this month, Netflix has yet another drop to offer today that will top up your list a bit more. Though there aren’t any major titles being added, the addition of today’s four new series and a documentary will certainly appeal to those with niche tastes. Plus, the inclusion of two animated shows means there’s plenty here to keep the kids busy until you can watch something that’s more your speed.
For starters, Mighty Express is a new Netflix Original series for toddlers that follows a team of trains and a group of kids as they teach the value of teamwork. It comes from the folks behind Paw Patrol, so although you’re unlikely to get too wrapped up in it, the younger ones are almost guaranteed to stay entertained for a bit.

Once again, Netflix have found one of their original movies dominating the cultural conversation, as The Devil All the Time continues to reside in the upper echelons of the Top 10 most-watched list. Much of the praise is being pointed in the direction of Tom Holland’s transformative performance, and while the psychological thriller won’t be the awards season contender that many thought it might be, the Spider-Man star’s phenomenal work could yet see him enter the conversation.
Of course, with the streaming wars in full swing and competition getting fiercer every day as rival platforms constantly expand their libraries, Netflix can’t afford to stand still for even a second and bask in their latest success. Which is why next week sees plenty of new additions, including another in-house feature that’s being earmarked as a potential franchise starter.

Shout out to the UK subscriber who watched Bee Movie 357 times this year. Your dedication has been duly noted by Netflix...
Bee Movie, the 2007 animated meme generator, has a very committed UK fan. Someone so enamoured by the adventures of Barry B. Benson, that in 2017 they were willing to spend 32,487 minutes of their time rewatching the film on Netflix.
Netflix, for their part, did not want this devotion to go unsung, so this week they specifically acknowledged the bee-witched viewer and created a little buzz (I'm sorry) surrounding the, er, achievement, by including the factoid in their 2017 'Year In Review'.
The Jerry Seinfeld-starring flick could have been consumed once a day, or for almost 24 days continuously. No one knows, as the streaming giant are naturally keeping the person's identity anonymous, and further details under wraps.
Oh, and Netflix also released a bunch of Top 10 lists, but...
