Opening shot of the White House is in late spring/early summer. Agent Walls, shot at in the last episode while snow was on the ground, arrives in the WH with blood still on her clothes to denounce Andrea Frost to the President.
The president has no direct hiring/firing authority over a civil servant, including FBI agents. Therefore, Kirkman could not directly fire an FBI agent.
The entire plot of this episode revolves around the Cabinet trying to remove a president through the 25th Amendment. In reality, the cabinet does not have that authority. Section 4 only allows them to temporarily transfer presidential authority to the next in the line of succession. The president can challenge this by sending his own letter to Congress, and the Cabinet has 4 days to send another letter to Congress if they still have concerns. The "acting president" then assumes power for up to 21 days while Congress deliberates. After 21 days, the President resumes his power and authority.
A president can only be removed by resignation or by Congress.
