By the end of the 19th century, photo-montage was invented, an art form that, by mixing images, created new meanings and ideas, and no more a still image of reality. Valério Vieira was one of the pioneers of this photo work in Brazil. Helena de Barros discusses this century old process of manipulating photo images in the computer age.

Marc Ferrez, 19th century photographer, became know for his panoramic photos of Rio de Janeiro and its surroundings, taken with special cameras with large format negatives, developed with a technique he invented, that gave wonderful results. The guests are the Colectivo Mão na Lata, photographers that, as their name says, take their photos with empty metal cans, the pinhole technique, and imagination.
