On Wednesday, 22nd August 2018 Channel 4 announced that they had commissioned a Christmas Special to be broadcast in December 2018 and a second series of the comedy chat show to be broadcast in 2019. The UK broadcaster also announced that they had commissioned a 6-episode comedy entertainment show starring Mo Gilligan for 2019 provisionally titled "Mo's Show".
The Big Narstie Show has come to an end after five series. An article in trade publication Deadline revealed that in early 2023 Channel 4 had informed production companies Expectation Entertainment and Dice Productions that they would not be commissioning a sixth series, but that news of the decision has only emerged in June 2023 as the industry's focus has turned on the network's commissioning plans in light of its strive to cut costs in response to challenges in the advertising market. The broadcaster has denied that the decision not to recommission the programme was part of the so-called "cull" of formats across all genres that is currently been seen in an attempt to save money.
