Those who have already binged Bridgerton Season 3 (maybe even multiple times) will have a while to wait before Season 4, but there are several shows that can satisfy the need for elaborate period piece drama in the meantime. Two other shows, The Buccaneers and Dickinson, share the commonality of a modern soundtrack, much like that of the Shondaland show save the string cover element. The Buccaneers also has a debutante scene for young American girls hoping to secure marriages.
Julian Fellowes also created two lengthy period drama shows — Downton Abbey and The Gilded Age — which unfold in an ensemble-style fashion with various families and servant characters having whole plot lines. Gossip Girl will satisfy those missing Lady Whistledown’s columns that balance between journalism and nosiness.

“Dickinson” showrunner Alena Smith detailed the challenges of making the Apple TV+ period drama show starring Hailee Steinfeld as its queer female lead, playing poet Emily Dickinson. Apple kept her in the dark about the show’s success, Smith said, which made creating the show significantly more difficult.
The first season of the series arrived on the streamer in 2019, the second one on Jan. 8, 2021. Season 3 concluded the arc Smith envisioned for the project and came out Nov. 5, 2021.
Describing what drove streaming services to make creative projects, Smith explained to Harper’s Magazine that streamers were looking to grow their subscriber numbers by taking big creative swings that pulled in new audiences.
“It’s like a whole world of intellectuals and artists got a multibillion-dollar grant from the tech world,” Smith said. “But we mistook that, and were frankly actively gaslit into thinking that that was because they cared about art.

If there was a poll to decide who the biggest pop star in the world currently is, majority of the votes would undoubtedly go to Taylor Swift. The singer’s cult fan following and immense influence over the younger generation has made her a pop culture phenomenon. In addition, Swift’s romance with Travis Kelce has ensured that there has been a meteoric rise in the popularity and financial growth of football.

Last month, it was announced that writer/producer Judalina Neira is developing a TV series reimagining of the classic sitcom Bewitched for Sony Pictures Television, aiming to turn it into an “irreverent hourlong” show. NBC clearly likes the idea of reviving Bewitched, because now Deadline has broken the news that the network has their own “Bewitched-inspired” show called Something Wicked in the works, and this one already has a star attached: June Diane Raphael, who may be best known for playing the character Brianna Hanson for the 94 episodes that make up the Netflix series Grace and Frankie, which ran for seven seasons.
Raphael is also writing and executive producing Something Wicked with Dickinson creator Alena Smith. A multi-camera comedy, the show is described as having a Bewitched-type premise and will also serve as an homage to TV sitcom classics. Exclusive: NBC is developing Something Wicked, a multi-camera comedy starring June Diane Raphael and written and executive produced by Raphael and Dickinson creator Alena Smith.
Something Wicked is described as a comedy with a Bewitched-type premise and an homage to TV sitcom classics. It examines the condition of modern adult womanhood and how even with witchcraft, balancing everything is impossible.
Smith and Raphael write and executive produce. Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, is the studio.
This is the latest high-profile multi-camera comedy project at NBC. The network, which has pivoted toward an all-multi-camera comedy slate over the last year and a half, also has a sitcom pilot headlined by Reba McEntire.
Bewitched, which originally aired on ABC from 1964-72, starred Elizabeth Montgomery as Samantha Stevens, a witch who marries an ordinary mortal man, played by Dick York and later Dick Sargent, and vows to lead the life of a typical suburban housewife.

Heidecker will play a local deputy, Patterson has been cast as an orphan profiteer, Huss portrays an eccentric empty-nester millionaire and Cardellini takes on the role of a social worker who helps Stiller’s character on his journey to find a home for the boys. The film is based on a script by Leland Douglas and was developed by Rough House Pictures.

In “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” our hero Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) is transported to a dimension where dozens of other Spider-heroes reside — or at least intersect like threads on a web.
There’s Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac), the leader of this Spider Society. His right hand is Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman (Issa Rae), who shares the same superhero name as Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman (Hailee Steinfeld). You won’t confuse them though, as each hero has his/her own distinct character design and animation style.

Since its launch in November 2019, Apple TV+ has been one of the — is not the — best value in streaming. However, almost exactly one year after a $2 price increase, the platform is raising costs again, this time going from $6.99 to $9.99 for a monthly subscription and $69 to $99 per year; this represents a 43% increase in price. Before October 2022, the Apple TV+ rate had been just $4.99 monthly and $49.99 annually, therefore, the new price more than doubles what the cost had been just over one year ago.
Apple TV+ is raising its rate by 43% to put it more in line with other premium streaming services. The streaming service has long produced high-quality originals, but its library was far smaller than most of its competitors. The tech giant is also increasing the cost of Apple Arcade, News+, and the Apple One bundle. 7-Day Free Trial $9.99+ / month apple.com Why Is Apple TV+ Increasing Its Prices?

While starring in Apple TV+'s "Dickinson" from 2019 to 2021, Hailee Steinfeld played a woman with a messy life. But the 26-year-old's own love life is a more private matter.
The "Spider-Verse" star has been in the public eye ever since she was a teenager thanks to her Oscar-nominated breakout role in "True Grit." However, she's had a pretty average, non-scandalous dating history so far. Although she, like most Hollywood stars, has been the subject of tons of dating rumors, she's actually only had a few relationships known to the public. And, ironically enough, the relationship that she kept the most private was the one with one of the biggest stars of the decade - aka, a former One Direction heartthrob.
In spite of this, we do know a few things about Steinfeld's dating life. In her 2021 Cosmopolitan December/January cover story, she opened up about what she looks for in a partner,...

Could anyone have foreseen the legitimately fascinating trajectory of David Gordon Green's career as a director? After helming gritty, dramatic fare like "George Washington" and "All the Real Girls" as a newbie filmmaker, Green suddenly pivoted hard in the opposite direction, tackling the genre-blending stoner flicks "Pineapple Express" and "Your Highness." He would only branch out further from there, trying his hand at everything from uplifting true-story films ("Stronger") to grounded crime dramas ("Joe"), darkly satirical TV series, and even heavily-fictionalized, anachronism-infested biographical series with big Millennial energy ("Dickinson").
Green has since continued this trend of swerving from one type of storytelling to a radically different one with "The Exorcist: Believer" (read /Film's review), a legacy sequel to William Friedkin's Og "Exorcist" and the follow-up to Green's divisive "Halloween" trilogy. While they may both reside in the horror genre, the gonzo slasher universe of the "Halloween" franchise is...

Last year’s horror-comedy series “Shining Vale” is headed back to Starz for Season 2, and Entertainment Weekly lets us know today that the new season premieres October 13, 2023.
The series stars Emmy Award® nominee Courteney Cox, Academy Award® nominee and Emmy Award® winner Greg Kinnear (As Good as It Gets, “The Kennedys”) and Oscar® winner Mira Sorvino, who are all slated to return for the second season.
Check out “Shining Vale” Season 2 images below and see more over on EW now.
In season one of “Shining Vale,” Pat (Cox) and Terry Phelps (Kinnear) cash in their life savings and move from a cramped Brooklyn apartment to an old Victorian mansion in Connecticut, as a last-ditch effort to save their marriage after Pat’s torrid affair with the handyman. Gaynor and Jake are pissed, and as disconnected as teenagers can get. Terry tries to rally the family, but the pushback is relentless.

Drum & Lace, aka Sofia degli Alessandri-Hultquist, is an artist and composer from Florence, Italy. Her music has been described as being genre-fluid and having a “chameleon-like nature” (A Closer Listen), melding together sampled field recordings, lush layers of synths, chamber instruments and electronic beats. She draws inspiration from film music, music concrete and nature to create textural electronica, often blending unlikely sounds with one another.
Her feature-length film scoring credits include Netflix film “Night Teeth” (directed by Adam Randall), campy-thriller “Deadly Illusions”, They/Them (directed by John Logan) and the just released Red, White & Royal Blue. Television credits include AppleTV+ Original Series Dickinson (created by Alena Smith), seasons 3 and 4 of NBC Good Girls (created by Jenna Bans & Bill Krebs) and I Know What You Did Last Summer (created by Sara Goodman) for Amazon Prime Video.

If the Ninja Turtles are out on the town, you can bet that reporter April O’Neil isn’t far behind and she’s ready to get in on the action. Mutant Mayhem’s incarnation of April is a younger version of the classic character who is one of the first humans to closely interact with the mutant teenagers. The Turtles are apprehensive but April surprises them with her acceptance of their differences. In a way, she helps them come out of their shells. April also helps the teens realize how important it is to just be regular teenagers and the fun that comes along with it. Without her, the Turtles’ interaction with the human world would be much different.

Academy Award-nominated actress, multi-platinum recording musician and producer Hailee Steinfeld wants to produce more content.
“I just can’t wait to do something that challenges me in a way that I haven’t been challenged yet,” Steinfeld told actress Ayo Edebiri on Friday at Tribeca Festival’s Storytellers series. “I would love to produce something that I’m not in. To understand that role in its entirety on its own.”
Steinfeld’s first producing gig was Apple TV+’s Dickinson, which she also starred in. The role earned her a 2020 Peabody Award. Most recently, the actress reprised her role as Spider-Gwen in Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse. The previous installment, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, won a 2019 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
“I didn’t have the opportunity to record with any of the other actors (in the first film),” Steinfeld said. “It wasn’t until we were doing press for...

Hailee Steinfeld joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2021 Disney+ series “Hawkeye”, with her character, Kate Bishop, seemingly set to replace Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton as the next iteration of uber-archer Avenger Hawkeye.
Since then, however, Kate has not returned for any subsequent Marvel projects, and hasn’t been confirmed to appear in any coming up in the future.
In the meantime, rumours circulated that Kate would be part of a “Young Avengers” project — based on Marvel’s comic book series — that would team her character with a variety of other young superheroes.

Wherever Hailee Steinfeld goes, quality projects seem to follow.
The Oscar nominee’s latest return to the big screen in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has received near universal acclaim like its Oscar-winning predecessor, Into the Spider-Verse (2018), and both animated projects are on a very short list of recent comic book films where critics and audiences align in terms of reception. This pattern of critical acclaim is nothing new for the Los Angeles native, as The Edge of Seventeen (2016), Dickinson (2019), Arcane (2021) and Hawkeye (2021) all follow suit. Her 2018 film, Bumblebee, is also the only well-received installment in the Transformers franchise so far.
In the Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson-directed Across the Spider-Verse, Steinfeld got the chance to dive even deeper into Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman, as the movie actually begins with her story, something that surprised even Steinfeld herself upon seeing the film.
“I was never given a script in its entirety.

Hailee Steinfeld is "itching" to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).The 26-year-old actress made her MCU debut as Kate Bishop/Hawkeye in the 2021 TV series 'Hawkeye' and cannot wait to revisit the character on the big screen.Asked about a Marvel return by Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Hailee said: "I mean, the question from you and I both. From Paul Lee’s perspective, the streaming boom that led Hollywood to binge on original content has evolved significantly during his half-dozen years as CEO of production company Wiip.
Over the past year, the industry has been through “a moment where the streaming revolution went from a land grab to ‘This land needs to be fertile,’ ” Lee says on the latest episode of Variety podcast “Strictly Business.”
Lee spent a dozen years at Disney, rising to become head of ABC Family and later head of ABC Entertainment and ABC Studios. He’s mostly kept a low profile since launching Wiip in partnership with CAA in 2016.
In its short life, Wiip has scored with such series as HBO’s “Mare of Easttown” and “The White House Plumbers,” Amazon Prime Video’s “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” Apple TV+’s “Dickinson,” FX’s “Pistol” and more to come. In June 2021, South Korea...

Plot: The film centers around Sebastian who is encouraged by his fiancée to bring his immigrant, hairdresser father, Salvo, to a weekend get-together with her super-rich and exceedingly eccentric family. The weekend develops into what can only be described as a culture clash, leaving Sebastian and Salvo to discover that the great thing about family is everything about family.
Review: The marketing around About My Father makes a big deal about Sebastian Maniscalco being considered one of the most popular comedians in America. Maniscalco’s stand-up routine pokes fun at his immigrant family, his vastly different in-laws, and his observations about how people act. With a fair amount of profanity in his routines, Maniscalco’s brand of humor remains pretty inviting to all audiences. About My Father takes a lot of jokes and stories Maniscalco has told over the years and pulls them together into a comedy loosely inspired by his own life.

Principal photography has now commenced in British Columbia.
The movie follows three storylines, spanning thousands of years, intersect and reflect on hope, connection and the circle of life. Jared Ian Goldman (Ingrid Goes West, ‘Russian Doll’) produces the pic written and executive produced by Colby Day (Spaceman).
“From the first read I knew Colby Day’s script was special,” said Stanton, “and it has only become more rarified of a project as our team has formed. What a privilege to have such an ideal cast and crew realize this beautiful story.”
