The crew hired co-writer Tom Kelly (Poet, Playwright & Catherine Cookson historian) to be onset during filming as a guide. He would regularly be at actress Kerry Browne's side on location.
After Kerry Browne auditioned, the Producer's at Unified Films knew that there was no other person for the role. They concluded, she was "Our Catherine".
The film had it's exclusive debut in Catherine Cookson's hometown of South Shields; in library / museum, 'The Word' of South Tyneside. The exhibition marked 20 years since the famous author's death.
The film opened at the 20th Anniversary Sunday for Sammy Concert in Newcastle, England 2020, supporting creative talent on Tyneside.
Although most people are familiar with Catherine Cookson throughout her later years, the movie depicts her during her youth from the late 1920s, hence her wardrobe and appearance in a modern day setting.
