Warning: Spoilers
UK sitcoms just tend to have a much simpler vibe than their American counterparts. This didn't try too hard. It had some flaws for sure, but I am excited for where this could go.

Dirty Harry

Comedian Romesh Ranganathan is not much of an actor and it shows here in the first episode of his sitcom The Reluctant Landlord.

Romesh does not stretch himself too much, he plays a character called Romesh who runs the pub his late father once ran.

The curmudgeonly Romesh is chided by his wife Natasha (Sian Gibson) for his unhealthy eating habits, she wants to him to eat more vegetables. His son is being bullied at school and Romesh thinks it is all part of growing up and he should just ignore it.

Events take a turn when a former regular and trouble maker Dirty Harry (Phil Davis) returns from what seems to be having done some time. Romesh realises that Dirty Harry has been bullying him, being racist and passing dodgy Scottish notes and he needs to be confronted rather than just be ignored.

This has been described as a gentle comedy which tends to be a term for 'not that funny.' Romesh has a deadpan style but he is shown up here by more experienced actors such as Gibson and Davis. The script is weak.
