I enjoyed very much this journey through the Pyrénées-Atlantiques: beautiful landscapes and nice encounters.
There are some interesting aspects of this region: the sea and the mountain (the chef Christian Duplaissy and his restaurant, the wine maker Jean Brana and his vineyard-the Irouleguy grape variety-, the tasting of the red wine, the female biologists Emilie and Aurore of the Itsas Arima- the monitoring of the dolphins-), Hendaye (the beach and the surfers, the Spanish vacationers, the Spanish resident-1/3 of the population-, the food contest of "pintxo"), the Pyrenean Mountains (the cyclists of the North of France and Belgium and the 800 kilometers tour within a week, the ascent of the "Col de Burdincurucheta", Nicolas and Stéphanie enjoying trail running , Nicolas at the "Montagne de la Rune " -flora and fauna excursion, the griffon vulture-), the Principality of Laas (the visit of the King Henry IV, the idea of the mayor Jacques, the stars for the great visitors-Marcel Amont, Manu Chao or Maxime LeForestier-, the cattle breeder Bernard and the "vache béarnaise", the official jeweler Jean-Pierre Biensan), the cattle breeder Michel and the bulls for the "Course landaise", Caroline the "écarteur" avoiding the bulls in the arena, the "Course landaise" at Orthez-Béarn-) and the Valley of Ossau ( Gérard and the monitoring the brown bears, Rémy and the training of the Pyrenean sheep dogs called Patou).
I enjoyed the encounters of Jérôme with Patxi and Jon Tambourindeguy at Bidart (the sport of "pelote basque", the fishing tour and the festival at Guéthary), with Beñat Saint-Jean at Espelette , with Manesh (the paragliding moment), with Sébastien Combot at Pau, with Daniel Oyarçabal, Robert Sorondo and Anne-Lyse Oyarçabal at Salies-de-Béarn and with Quitterie Mondeu, her son Léo and Rémi Baylocq at Artouste: nice encounters with very kind French men and women.
