"SodaPop" is an American English-language short film and the first 2019 release I am rating and reviewing. The writer and director is Alex R. Wagner and he is indeed a pretty prolific filmmaker you could say. Also his cast that consists of three people only is more experienced than you'd expect for their ages, especially the two guys. It is a pretty short movie at 5 minutes only and tells us the story of a woman coming for an audition to a place she did not exactly think it would look like this way and she clearly wishes she was somewhere else on several locations. The dialogues written for this female actor are really the worst the film has to offer I must say and the way in which Wilson delivers them in the most over-the-top manner out there is making things even worse. Never did I have a natural impression from her, it all feels forced and unauthentic and you see immediately you have an actor delivering lines and you are not watching an actual person. Young is better and probably the only reason why this little movie here is not a complete failure and why I give it more than 1 star out of 5. Schwartz has almost no screen time at all, so cannot say too much about him. Very forgettable. The trio here have all appeared together in previous projects (with Wagner's involvement too), but this does not elevate the material of film here at all. It feels like something they rushed in during shooting other stuff. Almost no creative value to me and I cannot say I was entertained well. Thumbs-down and this film is close to a failure. Don't trust the rating. Go watch the film yourself, it's free on Youtube, and decide on your own if this is a perfect 10 ou of 10, one of the best films ever made, as almost 500 people here want you to think it is.
