The whole video was in part triggered by Ed Fornieles hacking Katya Kan's social media accounts in 2018: writing obnoxious, immature comments there and so on. The artist was particularly jealous of Kan's adventure with a particular gallery director, who was supposedly gay upon meeting, but ended up to be less gay than expected. This incident resulted in a love and hate LARP relationship between Fornieles and Kan. Kan then confronted Fornieles about the hacking at his speech on crypto-currencies and his special certificate in January 2019. Instead of explaining his motivation behind hacking her and exploiting other peoples' material for his art, such as using her Berlin video for his Athens Biennale presentation as well as Tumblr photos without the owners' permission, Fornieles was vague in his answer and let his gallerist, Vanessa Carlos do all the talking. She was somewhat worried about the whole issue, not wanting her gallery to be associated with hacking and so forth. "Anyway, whatever heart break doesn't kill one, makes one stronger", as they say.
