1000-lb Sisters (2020)
weirdly funny
Food addiction is quite complicated and this show does sort of make you see. Also it makes you see that you should be allowed to live and make fun and be a person even if you're obese. Most people think that when you're fat you should live to become thin, but that doesn't work and makes you depressed and eat even more. Just treat fat people as people and let them be themselves. Believe me when you're overweight you get plenty to hear from everyone about dieting, healthy ways of living, exercise. They don't need your opinion about that, they just need to be treated as a person.
Besides that, the sisters are very funny and the family interactions are good to see. How they can have the biggest row and finish with a big fart and everyone starts laughing. Even with all the rows going on, you can still see they care deeply about each other.
Hope they all make their goals!
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (2022)
enjoyed the first few episodes
It just sort of derails trying to put the blame on everyone. All very believable candidates with their own lifestory that could make them do it. The one that ended up being the culprit is quite unbelievable though and the end is weird.
Lethal Weapon (2016)
replace a charismatic badboy with a goody two shoess doesn't work
This show used to be great but they replaced the charismatic bad-boy with a very well hidden good heart with a very pretty goody two shoe.
It just doesn't work as there are now 2 main characters who just want to do good, yeah so maybe they make some mistakes, but they are eager to make up instantly. This doesn't give chemistry and tension the show needs, now it is just an OK action series.
The actors are good, the script is good, but it lacks soul that makes you keep watching. Now it is just something you watch if you don't have anything else to do.
Scandal (2012)
ups and downs
Loved the first season, good combination of drama and action. Sparks between Olivia, her dad and the president. It got a bit more drama after that and last season went to more action than drama. Still plenty of interesting story lines and characters to keep it all interesting and wanting to see more! My favorite character is Hawk. Really he is a monster, but he knows it and feels bad about it. Instead of feeling revulsion for what he does, you feel sorry for the man and just have to love him and feel like he's a trustworthy person who would never do any harm to you.
I Wanna Marry 'Harry' (2014)
funny how exited those girls get
very funny concept and basically the girls make asses of themselves. The pretend to be looking for love but as soon as they think it is a prince thus riches and fame awaiting, they go crazy. So far he hasn't lied to them and I don't think he will. I am curious to see if the girl he picks will like him for WHO he is, not for WHAT she thinks he is. And come on girls, do you really honestly believe a real prince would go on a dating show?
besides the cool twist it is a bit slow with lots of things being repeated up to 4 times in the same show, but good enough for background entertainment.
L'inconnu du lac (2013)
bit too graphic for me
So let me tell you, I don't mind nude males, I don't mind them kissing each other, I don't mind seeing them having sex. What did put me off was the scene where you could see the penis going up and down in the mouth and the one where you could see the cum squirt out of a penis after a hand job. That is not art to me, it is porn, gay or straight, doesn't matter to me.
Luckily most sex scenes left more to the imagination.
The thriller part was not so thrilling, you see the murder happen right in the beginning and you see who does it.
The great thing about the movie is that it shows that the relationships in the gay world are quite similar to the straight ones. There is insecurity, jealousy, clinginess, fear of being alone, willingness to do anything just to belong etc etc. There are good characters in the movie and it also manages to put some smiles on your face.
So over all, be warned, there are some graphic scenes in it, but the rest of the movie is OK to good.
I do think that if this movie was about straight cruising, it wouldn't have gotten good critiques at all.
Leverage (2008)
not so good hustle rip off
It is all too similar to Hustle (http://www.imdb.1eye.us/title/tt0379632/) but it misses finesse and acting. Even the way they film is similar, slow close-ups, reruns of events at the end, the plan B from the pilot, really can they make up nothing for themselves? Besides that the cast is not as good, all a bit shallow, the show doesn't have the UK humor and style, nothing ever goes wrong.
Having said all that, Hustle is an excellent, 10 out of 10 show and concept, so I guess that if you don't know that show, you can find this one entertaining and funny. If you even mildly like this show, be sure to watch Hustle, you will love it. If you think this is the best show on earth, you might not get the finesse and plots in Hustle, but try anyway...
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (2005)
entertaining for 20 minutes
Really why the hype? I watched season 1 and part of 2 and it was OK, 20 minutes easy entertainment but it gets boring after 1 season.
They take 2 controversial subjects (like racism, child abuse, under-aged drinking, faking disabilities you name it and deal with it in a non offensive and sometimes clumsy way that is amusing. No character development or anything, just the subjects and clumsiness. The ends are rather weak, no punchline or anything.
Great though that the actors did all writing and producing themselves. The acting is sufficient for the roles they play.
If you have 20 minutes to spare and want an easy laugh, go for it.
Maybe this will appeal more to adolescents? It might be slightly educating for them.
Bridget Jones's Diary (2001)
I feel so smart now
Loved this movie. It's lighthearted and funny. It makes you feel smarter and less scared of speaking in public; you cannot possibly do worse than Bridget. The one expression that stayed with me is: Verbally incontinent
