Armageddon (1998)
Close your brain and enjoy the show....and you'll like it.
The first time I saw this movie, I didn't understood all the words because I didn't saw it in my language. So, I took all my intention into the special effects, the rythm, and the quality of the Michael Bay direction. And after, when I saw it with subtitle, I understood that it is not serious. You need to watch Armageddon like when you read a comic book.... and you'll like it.
Starship Troopers (1997)
Everybody has to understand the movie, not just to see it.
Paul Verhoeven is a genius, and he loves to make blockbuster. In 1986, with Robocop, he offered to us a great critic of the American society. With Starship troopers, he did it again, with the same team (same composer, same screenwriter, same special effects crew,.....). And the movie is a great movie, a 2nd degree story with some Barbie and some G.I.Joe who made the war by obligation, not by ideology. A great moment of action, a great party of reflection.
Love and Other Catastrophes (1996)
Great dialogs, great actors, a great little movie....
When a movie lover like me is watching a movie like this one, his heart becomes happy, really happy. The characters love movies, they are talking seriously about them, with some respectuous words. I hope that the director of this one will going far in her career because she has a lot of talent.
Il est génial papy! (1987)
A good french movie, no more, no less.
One of my best friend is the principal character of this movie, his name is Fabien Chombart. In "Il est génial papy", he is so natural that it is an obligation for your brain to enjoy the show. But to be realistic, it is far from a masterpiece, just a good movie, thats'all.
Flesh+Blood (1985)
The portrait of a free woman and of a strong man who failed by love.
This movie is showing to us how a woman can change the mind of a man, of every men. The character of Rutger Hauer is strong, he is a leader, a great warrior. At the beginning, nobody can change his mind. But when he met the character of J.J. Leigh for the first time, his heart received a new kind of signal. He is in love with her. And this love is the cause of his defeat.
Dressed to Kill (1980)
A great tribute to "Alfred Hitchkock's psycho"
Brian DePalma is a great fan of Hitchcock. In all of his movies, you could find a tribute to a masterpiece of the master of suspense. With "Dressed to kill", he made a present to the ghost of his master, like he did with "Body double".
