Southern Heart (1999)
Endearing southern romance, full of beauty and grace
Upon hearing of this intriguing movie, "Southern Heart", I was interested in how two young women could do an independent romantic movie on a limited budget and, at the same, entertain the audience. Needless to say, I did not expect much.
What I saw simply blew me away. This endearing southern romance is not only full of beauty, but also, filled with the message of grace. Jamie Hendrix Collins (writer, producer & lead actress)captivates the screen with her feisty, southern beauty. She not only shows strength, she demonstrates her strength with a subtle, sensual beauty. Emily Carpenter (writer, producer & supporting actress) gives us a wonderful performance as well. Peter DeLuise is the perfect choice as the star with his commanding presence that is intertwined with a sweetness that we have not often seen from him in the past.
Southern Heart is simply a wonderful, romantic film that reminds us of a bygone era when Doris Day and Cary Grant enchanted us while also making us laugh. Danny Gilroy, Larry Mize and Ron Adams also provide wonderful characters that remind us that most actors today do not capture the essence of the southern dialect or mannerisms.
Southern Heart is a movie that, in the environment we live today, needs to be seen by the masses. It will make you laugh and cry and...be sure to stay until the end of the credits. The producers have included message to the viewer.
