Real Cases of Shadow People: The Sarah McCormick Story (2019)
B-Roll: The Motion Picture
The story had so much potential, but 95% of this film is generic road trip footage that has nothing to do with the premise. Disappointing.
Interior (2014)
Worth the wait
This film lulls you into thinking it's going to be just average, then things get crazy! Well done.
And Did They Listen? (2014)
It's not a belief system...I swear!
This is a long "interview" with the guy who made the film. Typical UFO cult BS insisting that they don't have beliefs, but are "thinkers", and those who disagree with them are close-minded sheeple. Pseudo-religious crap.
The UFO Conclusion (2016)
RIP Stanton Freidman
The only person speaking any sense in this "documentary" is the late Stanton Friedman, and even there I would respectfully disagree with some of his conclusions. Notably, he is also the only individual not espousing pseudo-religious dogma. He will be missed.
The Before Time (2014)
Say Hello to Miguel Sanchez
I enjoyed the first half of this film when it was an out-and-out satire of broadcast journalism. After that, it became a by-the-numbers horror film. Had it maintained its comic edge, it would have been more original, and more fun. I just about doubled over laughing when one of the character names was a direct Simpsons reference.
Heidi (2014)
Clever take on both found footage and scary dolls
This 2014 film starts off as a generic low budget found footage and scary doll film shot by teenagers, but evolves into a more complex and genuinely creepy tale. The final scene before the end credits spooked me in a way that stayed with me, and which few horror films accomplish. This predates "Annabelle", and it wears it's influences on it's sleeve (even making direct Chucky references). If you've ever wondered how an animate doll can accomplish complex murders, this movie will clear that up for you.
Alien Implant (2017)
It's about being a survivor of abuse
A woman abducted by aliens as a child exacts revenge on those who abused her. An unexpected authority figure appears to convince her of the futility of her actions. This film is in the style of 1980's art house sci-fi like "The Quiet Earth". Lisa Mueller succeeds in carrying the entire film almost on her own, and managing to express the conflicted emotions of a survivor hardened by hate. An underrated and beautifully shot film.
