South Park: Back to the Cold War (2022)
Welcome back to South Park
Ahhh yes, finally, this felt like an old school episode from the show's glory days! It's polarizing and offensive and politically topical while being unapologetically cynical, irreverent, nonsensical, and gut burstingly funny. They aim to offend, and they do a damn good job. For the people saying they are "taking russias side", remember that south park doesn't take sides and offends everyone equally. Because, in reality, they are just doing what they have always done. Telling us all that we are stupid and showing us why it's true.
The Passion of the Christ (2004)
Glorified Blasphemy
Not a movie, a snuff film. Caviezel was struck by lightning twice while filming, can you say Blasphemy? As a "non believer" who grew up in the church, I was borderline offended.
Apostle (2018)
I have never wanted a protagonist to die so badly
In the ultra disturbing, ultra violent, completely bizzare movie that is Apostle; many things are well done, the best being a riveting performance by Michael Sheen. However, Dan Steven's was awful. So in short, the movie is great if you can get past a really awful lead actor.
South Park: The Return of Chef (2006)
The Saddest Episode of South Park
This is by far the saddest episode of South Park if you know the context. Throughout the episode you can feel their pain at the departure of Issac Hayes, and at many moments it is so painful because this episode shows the love they had for Issac Hayes. Their attack on scientology is subtle without context, and blatant if you know the story. RIP chef.
The Good Place (2016)
What I want to know is are you kind?
A show about becoming a better and kinder person? Yes please! I love this so much! The twists, the turns, the originality, the philosophy and the hilarity! I don't know if I can praise a tv show more! . All throughout the show you find yourself rooting for the "piece of crap" person to become better, and it ends up so satisfying and happy (yet tear jerking) that you can't help but let your heart bleed for every character in the show. The writers are geniuses, and the acting is on point! Even the love story is original, unexpected, and more rooted for than even Rachel and Ross on Friends!
Points.
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (2000)
A definitive end to The definive Batman series
This is the end all of Batman The Animated Series and it's beautiful and dark and disturbing and certainly not directed at children. It ends The Animated series Joker storyline, and brings the original Harley Quinn storyline to an interesting conclusion. What a wonderful movie. As a Batman fanatic I can honestly say this is the perfect conclusion to both the animated series and Batman beyond.
The Good Place: Most Improved Player (2016)
"You came to say goodbye because you're my friends"
This is my favorite episode. It is laugh out loud funny, teary eyed emotional, and a pivotal point in the series and for Eleanore. The Introduction of Trevor and Vikki (real Eleanore)
Parks and Recreation: The Master Plan (2010)
First episode of the rest of the show
This episode changed the format of the entire show, the introduction of Ben and Chris changed everything. After this episode, the show became the show that everyone knows and loves, everything before this is like watching a different show. This could probably be considered the most important episode
Bob's Burgers: Glued, Where's My Bob? (2016)
One of the best in the series
Yes the song is great, and it is a very funny episode; but this one is so much more than that. It is a perfect example of how this show can make you love the characters, and hope against hope things will work out for them. For one of the first times, things actually completely work out for them! It makes you want to cheer with the patrons of the restaurant "Toilet Bob! Toilet Bob!" This episode perfectly exhibits why this is the best adult animation comedy of all time! Truly a wonderful episode
South Park: It Hits the Fan (2001)
Mocking Censorship
This episode is a brilliant satire against censorship, and the over dramatization of "bad words". Matt and Trey are geniuses
It (2017)
It's like they expected the viewer to have read the book, so they could disappoint them entirely
IT is my all time favorite novel, a story of friends and love overcoming evil. The brilliantly vibrant characters, the intricate plot, the message, the ending, everything about IT is perfect. This movie on the other hand, was a monumental let down. I've seen this movie twice, the first time I hated it because it did not follow the story at all (other than the fact the cast and the first scene were perfect), and it did not portray the characters right; Bill punching Richie? What the hell was that? The book was about their friendship over coming Evil. What happened to all the details that made the book amazing? Beep Beep Richie, The Deadlights, the turtle, and many other things. The substance of the book was gutted from the movie. The second time I watched it, I attempted to see it with the mentality of someone who didn't absolutely love the book, just to judge it by if it was good not if it followed the book. And still it was not good. There was no character development, the scenes felt rushed and confused. There sre so many things in the movie you won't understand if you had never read the book, and if you have read the book you'll hate it. Just do yourself a favor and go watch the old TV movie instead because at least they portrayed the characters correctly
