Poor Things (2023)
Brilliant, stunning, absolutely fantastic.
Brilliant, stunning, absolutely fantastic. Stylistically the best I've seen in a long time in theaters. The score is somewhat subtle but incredibly effective and beautiful. Also one of the most unique scores I've heard in theaters in a long time. All about this film unique, bold, poetic, theatrical, just overall artistically pleasing. The performances were fantastic. Emma Stone as Bella was the perfect casting choice, I can't imagine someone better for this role than her. And she plays her brilliantly. Mark Ruffalo was brilliant as well. The philosophical content of this movie was really well executed and developmed throughout the running time and the added humour worked very well with the tone of the film. Overall, I'm in love with this film. Left the theater amazed and highly pleased. What a bold, risky film for this day and age. Bravo Yorgos.
More like this Hollywood, don't let great art die! Brilliant!
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Hero or Hate Crime? (2017)
Masterpiece
Probably the best written episode of this show, as of season 12. They masterfully implemented sensitive topics in a hilarious episode. Don't know how they did it, it was shocking, but they landed everything tastefully. I was surprised by actually seeing some character development in this show, but it felt natural and genuinely heartfelt.
Yet, it managed to maintained the classic "It's always sunny" humor. Again, amazing writing. Amazing back & forth. Just perfect. Shockingly pleased. This is Truly one of the best TV sitcom episodes I've seen, coming from someone who loves shows like community, arrested development and similars. This was fantastic. Bravo!
Cunk on Earth (2022)
Brilliant!!!
I haven't actually laughed out loud as hard as I did with this show in a while. Let alone to a Netflix production. Witty, sarcastic, dark, awkward, acid, stupid and with tints of gen z meme humor, just hits the perfect spot for my taste. There are only a few shows that can make me laugh and that I actually enjoy their well written jokes, and this is one of them. Diane Morgan did a fantastic job, she's naturally funny, awkward and her delivery is amazing. Fantastic job by the writers as well. What a fun watch! If you're a fan of British humor, or have a great taste in comedy, this is most definitely one you wouldn't want to miss.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Not perfect; Met my expectations.
Gave it a 10 because of all of the insanely low and unjustified ratings but in reality is a 7.9 for me. The show is definitely not perfect but it met my expectations and brought fantasy TV to another level for me. All the people complaining and hating without constructive criticism are just missing on the fact that they have the opportunity to revisit middle earth in a fantastic way. The craftsmanship of this show is off the charts. Personally, I like a slow paced show that takes it's time for world building and character development, which this show gave to me, though I'll admit some scenes got dragged out. Wasn't such a big problem for me, personally. Overall, I'm eagerly waiting for season 2 after that great finale and I'm pretty confident it will be a step up. The story, places and characters have been woven, and the finale gets us to a point in the storyline where every plot is marching forward.
