7th Heaven: Paper or Plastic? (2005)
Why would Beverly Mitchell agree to play this horrific portrayal of a pregnant female????
Beverly Mitchell (Lucy) obviously sold her soul for a (small) amount (of petty cash) to allow the network to portray her character as a simple, small brained female that can't do anything for herself while in labor, aside from being an annoying, cry baby that throws a fit about nothing every 3 minutes.
I'm sure that she's already blown through the money that they paid her to set the female race back...let's see...59 years or so.
Great job making a small paycheck for yourself while or female culture is set back to the 50's. Simpleton....
Throughout this whole series women are almost empowered but then, whoops!
A female character gets pregnant and turns into a manic nightmare for *sigh* the great lead masculine rolls.
After season 7 this program turns into a teen soap opera with no redeeming qualities.
Shame on you all!!!
7th Heaven: Sin... (1999)
This episode is soooo far out of today's norm
So, spoiler alert, Simon (played by David Gallagher) is caught giving a double middle finger to his friends after school has been let out for the day.
Even back in 99-2000 this episode is reaching a bit to make such a big deal of a boy or girl in junior high giving the "middle finger " gesture to their peers.
At this point in the show I find the crimes and punishments to be so far fetched and almost Puritan like...these people were living in 1995-2000. It seems that the writers/show runners are considering a minor gesture to be a huge blow against humanity (a double middle finger gesture??) I believe that they're reaching for moral fodder to write their story lines about.
I find it almost cult like. Meaning the show runners are trying to show that one cannot express any negative emotions, aside from making a peaceful stance on what one believes...in Jr. High, how many kids do you know that faught without hurtful words or more?
And with Mary's story line (played by Jessica Beal), the girls basketball team DID find themselves victims of a double standard.
The boys basketball team was able to keep playing with a C- average but, the girl's coach told the players that they needed to bring up their grades in order to play but, didn't require any notification to the parents before closing shop??
I'm guessing that in that day and age things like this were ok. But, if the girl players were not feeling heard and did not have a voice along with the boys team being able to continue to play at lower standards scholasticly...how else would you expect the girls to retaliate?? I know it's not real life but, how else could the girls be heard??
They were set up, plain and simple to have something like this to happen.
The parents and school are both to blame for the vandalism as well as the girls that did it.
The lessons they are trying to teach are good but, a little out of date and one sided.
Quantum Leap (2022)
Because of my infinite love for the original series....
I'm going to rate the first episode of the new Quantum Leap series at a 5. I feel that's being generous, as I can actually feel the actors struggling to get through this episode with out one iota of chemistry between any of the main characters. And as a viewer, it was a tough episode to get all the way through.
That being said, the original Quantum Leap series started out slow as well. The chemistry took time to build between Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell and it took the writers time to find their groove to build on what the series turned out to be, which in the end was a well written and amazing series...until the network took over and rushed it to its end. Such a shame.
So, I'm going to keep watching in hopes that the same happens here. That the actors and writers keep at it, and are able to find their way to connect to this new idea for the Quantum Leap legacy to make it into a series that I don't want to stop watching 5 minutes in. Because this episode was bad....just really bad in all aspects. I'm sorry that I have to say that because I was so excited for this series return.
Val (2021)
Moving and beautiful....
I don't know if it's because of the state of mind I was in at the time I watched this but, I found the message within the piece and the story of Val's career and his life after being in the spotlight exceptionally moving and well told of himself.
Definitely worth watching, I'd say whether you're a fan of his work or not.
Supernatural: Fan Fiction (2014)
I'm with "goodlookinmonkey"...
...I'm not the type to write episode reviews but, this one was so well done that I couldn't help taking a minute to note my admiration
for this hilarious, tongue in cheek episode that had just the right amount of emo thrown in to make it a little uncomfortable and cringeworthy for Sam and especially Dean.
If I loved Buffy's "Once More with Feeling" (S6 E7), which I did, I'd have to say this was a couple of leagues above it, with both the writing and the performances by Jensen and Jared being spot on!!
Well done!! *slow clap* Well done!!
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Chapter One: October Country (2018)
Apple trees may not "bloosom" in October...
But it IS a TV show about witches. So....I'm thinking there's room for artistic license. Because, sure, apple trees don't blossom in October but, usually people don't appear out of thin air, I don't think one can take on the appearance of another person by chanting over their dead body and I've never been able to control a monster on strings to have it chase someone through a hay bale maze.
TI guess I'm saying that this probably isn't the show for you if you're concerned about little things like apple trees blooming in October.
Floor Is Lava: The Basement: Level 1 (2020)
I was rooting for the lava this episode....
...because the contestants were SO annoying!!!
The show itself is fun to watch and has a cool game show premise. It's kind of like a mash up of a kids Rainey day fantasy game meets escape room that's made up of obsticles instead of clues and brain teasers. It looks hard but, fun.
As far as the contestants go, it was really the 1st team that took the cake. It consisted of a mother and her teenage, twin boy and girl. The mother was sporting a lovely pair of shiney, tight hot pants, like the ones Sandra Dee wore in the finale of Greece, (Just wondering...who let her wear those on TV??) her snarky twin daughter that had an air of spoiled rotten and zero athleticism. She felt it was necessary to throw a dig at her mother during the exit interview instead for giving her props for completing the course, where as she made it maybe 1 or 2 hops in before sliding in to the drink, excuse me, "Lava". The twin son was really the savior of that trio, he pulled most of the weight, had a positive attitude and encouraged and cheered the ladies as they went along. They were really to have him there.
Next came the male triplet gang....If they focused more on working as a team instead of showboating, one upping each other and ripping on each others hairdos maybe they might have done a little better. Maybe.
Finally came the 3 Pastors from No. California.
My only criticism...the 2 men should have helped their female teammate who was stuck on a pyramid with no real footholds get across to the next landing instead of abandoning her on top of that thing, leaving her to attempt a jump no one ever could have made.
So, that's the long and short of the 1st episode. I'm interested to see where the producers are going to go as far as their choices for contestants.
