Nice film!
2 July 2006
I would not be assertive about Cassy Jones being an ordinary pornochanchada. It is rather a quick comedy or even a carioca comedy (comedy from Rio de Janeiro). The screenplay is definitely not the best thing in the film, in spite of some creative passages and funny situations. On the other hand, the direction by Luís Sérgio Person is quite good, so are the art direction and the cinematography, which create a nice kitsch colorful visual identity from the 70s, and the music by Carlos Imperial. Besides all that, it is a chance to see a young Paulo José, certainly one of the greatest Brazilian actors of all times, playing the protagonist. It is not unworthy to mention that Glauce Rocha plays a small role. If it were possible, I would give it a 6,5, as I do not consider myself an indulgent critic. It is a nice film.
