Vikings: Homeland (2017)
Season 5, Episode 3
2/10
5 minutes
19 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
5 minutes staring at crazy Ivar on the ground with blood on his face back and forth with the enemy laughing and looking at the bishop. He could have died several times but was never killed. The director or writers during the episode failed in this scene. We understand he is the villain here and also the one we should feel sorry for. We don't need to watch him get shot with an arrow at an angle that didn't even make sense either. Ivar is losing interest for me because it's becoming so unbelievable that everyone is siding with this lunatic. I don't understand how this episode made the editing room floor and was left the way it was. Floki also is losing interest to me. Without his eye makeup he just is any other person on a search to find the meaning of life. I also can't stand how the bishop and Ivar have these incredibly complex haircuts. So unrealistic for the time. The bishop has a fade and styled hair with product! I didn't know mechanical buzz cutters were around back then. I don't even work in hair styling and I can tell the hair and makeup department took several liberties with these hair styles. His character is also so irritating as nobody would believe a catholic bishop would look or behave like that. As soon as I saw him we said "he is way too attractive to not be a main character".... But that's what is bugging me about the show now. They only cast people like that for recurring roles and characters almost die 30 times over. They're all like cats with 9 lives. All around this awesome show is just becoming more and more disappointing and this episode is proof of that.

Vikings: To the Gates! (2015)
Season 3, Episode 8

Awful, just so bad
5 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was terrible. I love the series so far, but this episode takes the cake. I'm not sure if it's all the writers fault or the director. All these little moments where the main characters storm Paris and somehow everyone around them gets hit with arrows and die, but they don't. Rapid fire automatic arrows might I add. Why not just introduce cannons while you're at it??? Then all 4 main characters have these cathartic moments and everyone nearly dies, but doesn't. I really hate how they made all these characters look so stupid as warriors. It's so cheesy it's borderline comical now. Bjorn gets 2 arrows in the back, survives. Also, his slave turned free woman, turned wife wandering off? Leaving her child. What is that? Almost all of them stood back at some point during the battle and didn't fight... while chaos around them happens and everyone else is dying. Also, almost all of them stood there with no shields. Again, everyone else gets killed and they stand there like nothing can touch them. The Princess and the flag thing was stupid too! Stopping while they're all fighting for this big moment, FULLY exposed. She coulda been picked off easily. Truly my favourite moment was when the Viking in the water gets the arrow through the face. I laughed out loud. Rolo fighting without any armour at the top of the wall against 5 men with swords and nobody can pick him off with an arrow or sword? He fall, appears to drown, and then is alive yet again. The man truly has 9 lives. It's just so unbelievable. Lagertha's relations at the end after saying she will kill the earl who took her earldom??? So unbelievable. Flocki about to be burned alive in the ladder tower for what seemed like an eternity, and still survives without burn marks. Not to mention the smoke could have taken him out anyways. I truly hope the rest of the series doesn't continue like this because they lost their way with this abomination of an episode. That episode was a crash and burn!! Shame on everyone who allowed this amazing show to have all the moments aforementioned and thought they were great ideas.

I love this show

It gets you hooked right away! I love that it takes the perspective from all angles... not just criminals, but law enforcement, judges, lawyers, etc. I love that they also follow up with what happens on most cases so you don't sit there guessing.

Should have been better

They focused way too much on the youtuber conspiracy theorists and treated them as though they were the leading experts and authorities. They treated them like they were the scientists and pathologists. I couldn't stand that they basically gave them the last word. I think an entire episode was devoted to them even. Really this story could have been shorter as it was more cut and dry than they showed. There was about a million shots of the exterior of the Cecil Hotel. That alone was probably an episode in length. This was a tragedy for Elisa lam, but so was this documentary and I would not watch this again.

Making a Murderer (2015–2018)

Took a minute

It took me about 3 episodes to get into it but once I did, I was hooked. I know it's definitely more one sided, but I do feel that they did a good job identifying all the holes in the prosecution's story of events. Kathryn Zellner was just the most entertaining part! She had me from the get go.

Hope there is a part 3 one day !

Long
30 December 2020
I agree with the other reviews. This was long and could have been cut back. I found that there was no excitement because you knew he was going to be free from the first episode. I think the message is good. The cartoons were a little more graphic than I expected. You were left with a lot of questions though.

An hour and a half gone

I literally created an account on here just so I could review this movie. It started off interesting and then crashed and burned.... A story about nothing. It was like watching 2 Grumpy Old Men. Don't waste your time.
