The Adam Project (2022)
Masterful Exposition Machine for Obvious Story
Remember to take the time to appreciate those around you, that's how you will feel when you finish The Adam Project.
A story of a home, broken by a lack of openness between family members that has a soul warming ending.
Exposition is masterfully woven into the story with obvious background actions, although sometimes paying off a little too quickly. You will learn to care about the characters softly and willingly as they go on their adventure to save the future and their family.
The action is hit and miss, but every scene is beautiful and fun.
Highly recommended.
Star Trek: Voyager: Relativity (1999)
Super fun time travel adventure
Forget plot holes and this one is fun.
As Kate said "lets just get on with it before my headache gets any worse."
Likely one of Kate's best performances even though it is a Jeri episode.
No Time to Die (2021)
A predictable action-packed spy-adventure film that should you should certainly go and see if you don't mind turning off your brain for three hours
Spoiler-free review of James Bond: No Time To Die
Daniel Craig's final outing as Bond is a predictable action-packed spy-adventure film that should you should certainly go and see if you don't mind turning off your brain for three hours. Hans Zimmer went above an beyond again mixing all the signiture Bond sounds into brand new heart-pumping sequences. Ana de Armas makes an appearence as the absolutely charming Paloma - a Cuban agent sent to help Bond in a mission. You will not be able to prevent yourself from smiling for every classy moment Ana is on screen. Cary Joji Fukunaga, a director known for TV more than feature-length films, did an excellent job in No time to Die. The camera moves were all with emotion and purpose allowing the viewer to easily understand what is happening. No cheap quick cuts and shaky cam! Unfortunately the entire production is let down by a story that is a little bloated and contrived. All twists and turns are predictable with absolutely no sense of wonder. That being said, the action scenes are super fun and even Bond's car is used to it's full potentinal for the first time I can remember.
Music: 9/10
Cinematography: 9/10
Story: 5/10
Bond's Car: 10/10.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
A silly movie straight out of a comic book
Turn off the brain and relax into absolute chaos in a movie that can only be described as a silly action blockbuster! Avoid if you are looking for a comedy as this certainly isn't one, but go if you enjoy comic books and absurd situations!
The bad: there were moments that were strictly "American" humour with swear words being used for the sake of it apparently being funny, and character interrupts that feel janky (just like GOTG 2).
The good: the characters were mostly consistent! The twists were 100% predictable but you wanted them to happen. The big bad is absolutely ridiculous but no more than half of the "meta" humans of the Suicide Squad.
Recommend for the people who has the right mindset for this style of film.
Epidemiya (2019)
A Strong Start But Weakens As It Goes
The premise is interesting, and all the characters are flawed and easy to hate. The way the characters are put in danger though are inconsistent to their own rules and without motivation. Come the end the whole thing goes off the rails.
So much potential, yet didn't have the stream to reach the end. Still worthy of watching.
Aladdin (2019)
Weirdly low quality
The costumes and set all looked fantasic but the weird camera motions, the out of sync music / lyrics to what's happening just gave this a high-school musical.
Also odd for a musical that only the lead female cluld sing!
Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987)
Start from Season 2!
Maybe even season 3. Then once you have fallen in love, grab your popcorn and watch season 1 and 2 to see the train wreck that it was.
This became the Star Trek that make Star Trek as big as it is today for a reason. Hope, feel goods, and mostly independent episodes. So id you find yourself not enjoying a story, skip it!
Z Nation (2014)
Inconsistent world building and terrible everything
The actor's are all reading like lines like a high school play and the product quality fits.
Zombies have no consistency. Sometimes complete idiots, other times far smarter than the humans.
No comedy that I could find in the first few episodes, but many many frustrating points.
Avoid.
Spy (2015)
Bullying and Mindless Ranting
If you think that bullying someone is funny then this film is for you as half the "jokes" are simply that. The other half is the lead character mindlessly talking as if there was no script.
Redeeming qualities come at Jason Statham's over the top insane character and the general production quality. Not worth your time, watch the best bits on YouTube.
Enola Holmes (2020)
Fantastic lead actress holds together messy script
Enola is immediately likeable as she breaks the 4th wall to describe herself and explain her situation. It comes across as a very teenage thing but cute.
The relationship between Enola and her mother was charming and adorable that seemed relatable up until the mother disappears.
Here's where things start to go wrong. The brothers turn up and Mycroft is absolutely insufferable. Sherlock is absolutely useless.
Not only is this 16 far smarter and faster than Sherlock but more capable in many areas.
Then she flat out murders someone, on screen.
Making Sherlock useless was the biggest misstep. If only he stood in the background, helping indirectly and only stepping in her save her life as Enola bloomed...
