Cool Doji Danshi (2022)
A fantastic "comforting" watch
I saw this pop up on crunchyroll and after reading the description I laughed and figured why not give it a shot. A few hours later, and here I am writing a 10/10 review for this show that I am now fully caught up on. This show is fantastic!! They do a great job of developing the characters and conveying meaningful messages in each episode.
The show isn't strictly focused on comedy, nor drama, nor any one thing too much. It's an extremely unique watch! I enjoyed watching every episode, and although it was quick to catch up - I really do wish the episodes were longer. The way the characters teach other and appreciate what each individual brings to the table is so cool and also heartwarming. This show just consistently made me feel good while watching it. I feel like I was smiling for 90% of the time I spent watching.
I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a new show, regardless of what your typical genres are.
Tokyo Revengers (2021)
7/10 - Some parts that just Don't add up for me
To start off, I'm going to say that I love a lot of the characters - basically every character besides the main character. Takemichi is a 26 yr old who goes back in time and is living in his 13 yr old body with the knowledge he has as a 26 yr old. With that being said , there are numerous times where he acts as if he's even younger than 13 and much much dumber than a 26 yr old. He simply doesn't put 2 and 2 together when there is more than enough basic information available to him.
Other than the MC being kind of a dunce - making stupid decisions and not realizing things when he should - there's a lot of good stuff in this anime. The other important characters are great, they're intriguing, well built, and they're badasses.
The overall story/plot line is also intriguing, but there are a few times where things just don't add up. I understand you must suspend reality when watching a show that involves time travel, but the main character just makes far too many dumb mistakes that go past the point of credibility.
Other shows that have done similar sort of plots ; such as Erased - where the MC goes back in time to prevent a murder -do the same sort of thing but in a much better way. It's a solid anime and keeps you hooked , but if you're looking for a Time travel related anime definitely check out Steins Gate and Erased over this .
Wednesday: A Murder of Woes (2022)
Trainwreck that I couldn't take my eyes off of
I would give this a worse rating, but I had to give it a 4 simply for how I was hooked enough to binge the final 4 episodes in one night.
I don't even know where to begin. The writing, pacing, basically everything about this episode was a bust. They've been dancing around this mysterious case for 7 episodes, adding in pointless side stories - all for them to rush through the final episode and make absolutely ridiculous things happen that make no sense whatsoever. The battle scene with this stupid Joseph Cronenworth was dumb. I hated this whole "normies" vs "outcasts" theme. At times this show was dark, thrilling, and genuinely creepy. Then they would turn around and throw in a cheesy teenage romance scene, and these corny attempts at being woke. Not too sure who the target audience is supposed to be.
The dialogue and acting has been pretty be utal throughout the show, but i can't get over how
bad some of the lines were in this final episode.
Overall, Wednesday was mediocre at best, and I think this episode was the worst of the season. Yes, I did binge it and found myself hooked, but I also found myself laughing out loud at many of the "major" scenes in this season finale.
"Hey, are you gonna be back next semester??Yes?? No?? Maybe???" Dear god I hope not. But if you are, I will probably watch and be equally as infuriated and enthralled.
Wednesday: Quid Pro Woe (2022)
Intriguing, yet so cheesy
The show is very intriguing - and I will say it has me hooked. With that said, there is a whole lot of corny acting and some bad writing. When Wednesday is stitching up Tyler and he says "Thanks Doc" I thought I might pass out from the level of cringe. Tyler, enid, the mayor's son, and even the mayor deliver some truly terrible lines in this episode.
Jenna Ortega does a great job, I think her performance is spot on and she plays the character perfectly. Apart from her performance and the intriguing/mysterious plot line, this show leaves a lot to be desired.
I don't know how long this show could last, and I do hope they clear things up in a somewhat satisfying way.
86 (2021)
Stunning. Perfectly Executed
Fantastic anime from start-to-finish. Honestly, one of the most satisfying wrap-ups/endings I've seen in any tv show, anime or not.
This show brought so much to the table. The main plot line if the story is very interesting, and the creators unveil the story so well. At first, you may be confused as to what exactly is going on, but that is part of the beauty of this show and it is completely intentional on the show-runner's part.
In season one, I love how they continuously jumó back and forth between Lena's point of view and the 86's point of view. My only complaint would be that we may not get enough of Lena in Season 2, but overall I thought they tied up things so well.
Shin and Lena are both complex, compelling main characters. Shin's backstory and his overall demeanor are both tragic and heartwarming. Lena on the other hand always felt that things should be better, and she truly did everything in her power to make a difference in their world and strived to be as strong as the people she admired most - her comrades in the Spearhead Squadron of the 86.
Kimetsu no Yaiba: Layered Memories (2022)
BRUH
Unbelievably good episode. Deserves around a 9.8/9.9. Sad that it has so many 1 star reviews for absolutely no reason. Why bomb a shows ratings if yo don't even watch it? I'll never understand that.
Nonetheless, this episode was absolutely perfect from start to finish. Tanjiro and Nezuko's character development is world class. The animation was jaw-dropping, and the soundtrack was killer as well. So excited to see where things go. Wow. What an episode!!!!
Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu: Jishou Kishi Natsuki Subaru (2016)
Subaru-kun...what are ya doing
Have loved subaru so far but this man is making some terrible calls in this episode. He makes about 10 bad decisions in a row, ultimately leaving him on bad terms with his love Emilia. I love ya brotha but you gotta think before you act !!!
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part I (2022)
Princess Leia? Or Adrian Peterson?
I loved Ewan's Obi wan and Episodes 1-3 when I was a kid- they were being released as a grew up. I'm glad to see Obi's return, and the show seems to have promise, but there are some parts of this episode that were simply comical.
10 yr old Princess Leia ( who looks 7) outrunning three full-grown adults for a solid 2-minutes in the forest was one of the most ridiculous scenes of TV i've ever seen. These henchmen are literally feet away from her when this chase begins, they should capture her within seconds. Instead they are somehow trip over multiple trees, actually walk into trees, and more of the like. It's not like Leia was moving fast either. She shows little to no athleticism and appears to be running slower than an average 10 yr old would. I know this is a long tangent, but I seriously could not believe how ludicrous that scene was. It baffles me. I watched the episode two days ago and this is still on the forefront of my mind. We digress.
Overall just an okay episode, not trash, not superb. Solid TV and enjoyment if you are a star wars fan.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part II (2022)
super average
Third sister is brutal every time she's on screen. Her line delivery is so stiff and awkward every time. And why were they making her look like the batman on top of those rooftops??
Also, this is now the second ep in a row where tiny princess leia somehow outruns a full grown adult who is 1 foot away from her. I mean the girl can barely run on two feet but she's evading the legendary jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi??!?! Cmon now.? I'm obviously willing to suspend reality a bit, but this is just absurd. If Leia was pulling off acrobatic moves like the Third Sister, it would be much more believable that she can get away from ppl. But she is literally just a 10 yr old girl lol. All i hope is that Leia doesn't outrun another full-grown adult in episode 3.
Fumetsu no Anata e: The Defeated (2021)
Hayase is the WOAT
Hayase makes my skin crawl. Cannot stand this lady. Get real!!!! Her opening speech made me want to punch my television. Who on gods green earth does this woman think she is?!?! Go back home!
Fumetsu no Anata e: Awakening (2021)
bruh
I am in shambles. So beautiful, sad, painful, heartwarming, yet heart-wrenching. Fantastic episode of television. One of the best 20 minutes i've ever spent watching a tv show, movie, anime, etc. I am stunned.
Fumetsu no Anata e: Gift From the Past (2021)
Masterpiece
Fantastic episode. I am shedding tears of joy. GuGu is such a G. Gugu and Rean's story is so well done!!! At least his brother did one good thing for him :,)
Haikyû!!: The Absolute Limit Switch (2016)
WOW
Unbelievably good episode. I've been hooked since season 1 but wow...this was just perfection. I was legitimately screaming and gasping at every single point. This battle has lasted 4 episodes and it was worth every second. The suspense was so unreal, and everything about this match up was paced perfectly. As a former sports player ( one who has never played a lick of volleyball) it is absolutely impossible to not get fully wrapped up in the feels that this match brings. This show is fantastic. As one of the other comments states, if you are any sort of sports fan, this series is a MUST WATCH.
The Amazing Race: Say Cheese (2022)
Terrible.
This episode stunk. This entire season stinks. Most of the teams are complete duds. Absolutely cannot stand Dusty. The guy is so full of himself. This show has fallen off so much man. This was painful to watch. Cringe to the max.
Shigatsu wa kimi no uso: Hearts Come Together (2015)
Fantastic
What a beautiful episode. The development of the Kousei / Nagi relationship is great. Beautiful performance by these two. So much heart is brought into the music in both their ends. Arima Kousei you are a King.
Naruto: Shippûden: Wakai no shirushi (2016)
Absolutely Beautiful
Fantastic episode. Definitely deserves higher than a 8.8!! Jam packed with touching moments between Naruto and Sasuke. A few episodes ago I was amazed that Sasuke could still be so blind, and I am so glad his dear friend Naruto was finally able to show him the light. What a great episode of television. This show continues to amaze me. So sad I'm almost done, but I'm happy I've embarked on this journey.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Traitor (2022)
Sheesh
Hectic, intense episode. After a couple of kinda slow episodes, this one was jam packed with chaos. I don't want this show to end!! Idk how many episodes are left but I feel like there's still a lot of story to unfold. Pumped for next Sunday :-)
Shingeki no Kyojin: Deceiver (2021)
This left me in shambles
This episode surely deserves a higher rating. Although there is no Titan fighting in this episode, which I've noticed those episodes tend to be the highest rated, this episode is beautifully written and really conveys the essence of this struggle between the Eldians of Marley and the "eldian devils". The fact that Gabi and Falco are taken in by Sasha's own family is absolutely heart-wrenching yet so poetic. This show continues to amaze me with each and every episode.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Midnight Sun (2019)
Jesus Mary and Joseph
This show continues to get better and better. Absolutely heart wrenching episode as Levi makes a tough decision between saving his own personal hero and humanity's potential future hero. Perfectly executed.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Perfect Game (2019)
Unbelievably good episode
My oh my what an episode!!! One of the best episodes of television I've ever seen. Erwin smith you are a goddamn beast. That speech had me shedding tears of empowerment. Keep it coming. Let's. Go.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Can't Look into His Eyes Yet: Eve of the Counterattack, Part 1 (2013)
Yet Another Good Episode
These guys just don't miss. No "action" in this episode but it's still entertaining all the way through. The story is developing wonderfully and at a great pace.
Shingeki no Kyojin: To You, in 2000 Years: The Fall of Shiganshina, Part 1 (2013)
Unbelievable Opening to a Show
I think this is easily the best start to any anime I have seen so far. Unlike other anime such as Naruto, where things sort of take a while to build up, this episode will get you hooked immediately. I started the other day and I cannot wait to see the journey that this show takes me on. Beautiful animation, enthralling story, just an all around great first episode. If you are debating watching this show, go ahead and watch this first episode and guarantee you will not be disappointed!
The Righteous Gemstones: I Speak in the Tongues of Men and Angels (2022)
wowza!
What a first episode. Gives some great background on the family, and paves the way for their future. Eric Andre and Eric Roberts deliver great performances, hope to see more of them as the show progresses. Safe to say I'm excited to see where this season goes.
The Amazing Race: Run on Your Tippy Toes (2020)
WORST SEASON / EPISODE EVER
Disgusting, disgusting display for the amazing race. Blatant cheating should not be rewarded, nor allowed! Gary and DeAngelo got screwed. The whole competition was a scam. That final leg was the most disgraceful 10 minutes of television I've ever watched. The directions explicitly stated to "WORK WITH YOUR TEAMMATE" to complete the leg. I refuse to watch the finale.
