Motherland: Fort Salem: Coup (2020)
The brewing before the explosive storm
This episode was a little slower than I'd like but it really set all the pieces in the place they need to be for the finale. They're set it up so all their storylines converge in one big explosion next week and I'm here for it honestly. Great acting from Demetria McKinney as Anacostia Quartermaine this episode.
Motherland: Fort Salem (2020)
A very interesting world, great special effects
This show is pretty epic which surprised me for a show on Freeform - this is the channel that brought us Pretty Little Liars for Christ sakes.
The premise is simple and completely crazy, but the show works to make their rewrite of US history believable. The acting from the 3 teen leads is okay, I think Taylor Hickson who plays Raelle does fantastic with what she's given, but it's hard to take her seriously when the writers fail to give her character motivation besides her relationship to another cadet. Otherwise she generally nails her scenes. I think where the show falters is in Abigails portrayal because they don't do a whole lot to make her likeable the first few episodes. You have to really stick with her till around episode 6 where she starts to sound more like a human being and not a robot. Tally is what she is: the heart of the show, though her turn from naive child to hardened soldier is fun to watch.
Amalia Holm as Scylla is the standout from the cast, whether it's the fact that the actress is phenomenal or that the writers gave her character the mysterious double agent vibe that immediately sucks me in. Her relationship with Hickson's Raelle is pretty darn good.
This is a standout series for Freeform and I'm excited to see where the story goes when the network gives it a proper season.
iZombie (2015)
A knock out genre show
This show is one of the very very FEW shows that keeps the "villain of the week" trope alive and yet never feels like it's abusing it. Takes imo 3 episodes to get hooked into a week long binge fest so tread carefully.
Sex Education (2019)
A little too much teenage raunchiness
This shows great. It gets knocked down a peg with how raunchy their teenager characters get. Makes it difficult to watch as an adult, which perhaps is the point. This show has a specific demographic and it'll make you feel old quick lol
The Bold Type (2017)
Down hill after season 2a
Season 1 is spectacular, give that a watch. Tread carefully in season 2 after which abandon it because this show completely turned its back on its original premise so quickly it gave me whiplash
Atypical (2017)
Just overall a show to put some sunshine in your life
Sams story is just so heart warming to watch. This show has everything you're looking for in a family drama. Watch it!
Motherland: Fort Salem: Citydrop (2020)
Thrill Inducing Drama
I was hesitant to give this show a try but after binging the first half of the season I can sincerely say I'm absolutely hooked. A knock out series from Freeform of all channels.
