Disservice to the original series
11 December 2023
The series finale left Monk in a good place with a reassurance he had found closure and a better life with Molly being involved in his life. This movie finds Monk at his darkest and is a pale imitation of the original series. This is Monk without Sharona, Natalie, or his consulting job. If this was the best idea they could come up with, they'd have been better off leaving it alone and letting the series finale be the end. Predictable and mostly fan service with little sign of the character growth we'd seen over the course of the series. Not even as funny as the short they did during covid a few years ago.

Night Gallery: The Dead Man/The Housekeeper (1970)

Wrong actress credited

Warning: Spoilers
The old woman at the end of The Housekeeper segment is not Judith Lowry. It's Merie Earle of The Waltons and Green Acres fame. It's baffling that the ignorant children who run this site refuse to correct it and admit they screwed up even after being shown screen shots of the episode and photos of both women because "it can't be verified" when they clearly never verified crediting Judith Lowry who looks nothing like Merie Earle.

Laughably bad

The only entertainment value is in laughing at this show. Just because it's made for children doesn't excuse poor writing and wooden acting from the adults. Grandpa Beefcake looks like a fashion ad, not someone who works with animals for a living, and hotty mom doesn't look old enough to have a daughter that age. The casting looks like it was done by a focus group checking boxes for "appeal" rather than ability.
