This Is Where I Leave You (2014)
Enjoyable
I come from a large family, and I think the director really got the family dynamics really right, and since this is the core that the story spins around, I've given a higher rating than I might have done if I'd grown up with fewer or no siblings. The acting is quite decent and the writing is pretty good, but the familial interactions are absolutely spot on. It's not great art, but it's definitely not a waste of time. There are small incidences that aren't wholly plausible, but it's a story, not a documentary. Mary Rose Kent says two thumbs up.
(I don't really have more to say about the movie, but there's a minimum word quota I needed to meet.)
My Octopus Teacher (2020)
ABSOLUTELY FASCINATING
I love documentaries and have seen literally hundreds of them in my 40+ years as an intense film buff, and this is among a small handful for the depth of feeling it evoked. It's a love story of an odd sort, and the two main characters are bewitching. I even shed a few tears. Cannot recommend highly enough!
Inception (2010)
HOLD ON TO YOUR HAT
I am a film buff with nearly 50 years of movies, movies, movies, and this is one of the trippiest films I have ever seen. I read the list of noted errors and realized I noticed no errors because I was too engrossed in what I was watching to be distracted by something so minor as a misplaced hat or liquid levels in a glass. I recommend this very highly.
Pardon My Icelandic (2020)
Treat Yourself Right Now!
I am a comedy junkie from way back in the 1980s, and this is one of the funniest stand up sets I have ever seen. I have watched a minimum of seven times...but it could easily be more than that. I cannot recommend it highly enough. WATCH IT RIGHT NOW!
